Supporters of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) and the United Workers Party (UWP) will gather for events at two different venues this Sunday as the two major political parties in Dominica continue their activities in preparation for the upcoming general election.
Both parties were forced to postpone the events, which were originally planned for last Sunday, July 14, due to a tropical wave which was affecting the island.
The DLP goes to Lindo Park at Goodwill tomorrow for the launch of its candidate for the Roseau North constituency, Joseph Isaac.
According to information released by the party, the guest speakers at that event will be DLP candidates for the Roseau Valley – Dr. Irving McIntyre, the Soufriere constitency – Denise Charles, Roseau Central – Melissa Skerrit, Mahaut constituency – Rayburn Blackmoore, Portsmouth – Ian Douglas and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.
The DLP event is carded for 2:00 pm.
Meantime, the UWP Eastern Zone Rally, postponed from last Sunday, July 14, will be held this Sunday from 2:00 pm at Willie’s Junction in La Plaine.
The event, which according to the UWP, will focus on a strategic approach to rural development, will feature, among others, addresses by party leader Lennox Linton and candidates for the Salybia constituency – Dr. Worrel Sanford, the Castle Bruce constituency – Ernie Jno. Finn, Morne Jaune/Rivierre Cyrique constituency – Dr. Pharo Cuffy and the La Plaine constitueny – Francisca Joseph.
