DLP’s Frederick to highlight health and education if elected in Salybia constituency

Cozier Frederick makes his entry at his launch on September 8

An independent health sector and an improved educational system are among the major plans that Dominica Labor Party (DLP) Candidate for the Salybia constituency, Cozier Frederick, has outlined for his community.

Fredrick made the announcement during his DLP launch in Salybia on Sunday, September 8th, 2019.

“Let’s together, with renewed energy, revive the dream of our former Chief, Garnet Joseph, and make the Salybia consistency an independent health district with our own doctor, adequate staffing and necessary equipment, to serve our constituency,” Frederick said. “For too long, our people have to travel to Roseau to buy simple over-the-counter medication that costs much less than the bus fare. We must have our own pharmacy at the Salybia Health Centre.”

Frederick stressed the need for financing in the Salybia constituency, for access to credit…for economic development. but he believes that education is the most important pillar for economic development.

“Let me thank the PM for making college education free for all who wish to further their education. I have had discussions with the director of telecoms this week and we will establish a smart centre in the constituency, which will provide satellite services of the Dominica State College (DSC),” he said.

The DLP Salybia candidate is also advocating for a secondary school in the constituency which would help address the “many challenges” faced in providing local and globally relevant education to children.

He referred to the planned construction of fifty brand new housing units as only the beginning of a new housing thrust in the constituency.

“I am here to tell you today, that we have only just started. There is much more work to be done to bring the level of our housing stock on par with the rest of our country. To this end, there are a number of housing solutions which include fifty brand new housing units, sponsored by the EU and pre-fabricated concrete homes with samples in Sinecou and in Lagley,” Fredrick stated.

He also hopes to find more consistent markets and apply a more scientific approach to the agricultural sector as well as enhance the tradition of arts and craft and to teach it as a subject around the country.

“My life has been a journey of service to this community and today, I have come here to ask you to join me… as we march to a resounding victory on election day,” the Salybia MP-hopeful declared.

The DLP candidate thanked his campaign and the residents of the Salybia constituency for their support and promised to give voice to their dreams, aspirations and needs.

I just cannot understand how people continue to support a barrel of empty promises. Twenty years and billions of dollars in CBI, Grants, Loans, Free money and you people still swallowing pills of promises? Healthcare and education? You allow two out of three hospitals to go to ruins before having a plan!! You allow health centers to become non-existent before having a plan!! Education with no jobs? We will study to come and stand up financial center? And you have people jumping up and down? Well I give up.

Who is the prime minister of Dominica?
I do not know the difference of the prime minister of Dominica and the man Roosevelt who boast “I am running Dominica;”  that should leave no question in the mind of anyone that Roosevelt is a dictator, and a fully blown dictator at that.
Nevertheless, reading the comments of this guy; it would appear as if he intends to create a State within a State; something as they have in Italy: Vatican where Francis reign as the Roman Catholic earthly god!

This DLP candidate speaks as an autonomist, wanting his peoples territory to be autonomous; whereas he concentrates on having their own everything on the Reservation.
He suggest having their own doctors, maybe he has forgotten Worrel Standford, or is he not a medical doctor?

I highlight this simply to show so called politicians makes empty promises, deceiving the unsuspecting as he has done.

He is professing autonomy, for a handful of people, with a separate economy as far as his…

:?: This one-man corrupt rogue regime prime mistake has been holding power for 20 years and health care has deteriorated under him, but he presents new candidates with the same promises as his rejected candidates as if it’s anything new :?: People, it’s the entire regime that’s incompetent and don’t care about your interest, therefore voting for the new candidates will not change anything! Remember the one-man corrupt rogue regime prime mistake has said to you that you’re paying medical/health insurance for him and his family, therefore he can afford to migrate for medical attention while you are left to perish! He wants to control the island and you, but he doesn’t want his children to be born in the island, doesn’t this send a message to you :?:

Frederick says, we only have just started…! Now let me ask you, what have you and your PM done in the last 15 years in particular for the Kalinago people, I mean apart from withholding moneys that were mentioned to be for them. I urge the people of Salybia to reflect on 15 years of Skerrit regime and cast their vote based on that. In case you received any envelopes, do keep them but make the right decision for yourself AND the country. Skerrit is refusing to account for state assets, all you think that’s ok???

If the government wins the next general elections this man and the PM will have some trouble.

His philosophy of politics and that of Labour differs vastly.

Be sure that this man is a threat that the PM will have to deal with.

All this money wasted on a campaign they say they going to win easily meanwhile the college has not been fixed, no university has taken place of Ross, and GSS is still sharing a school with DGS. Now you tell me whether or not education matters to the DLP. Sometimes I wonder whether the govt thinks they’ve been in opposition for 19 years now. The height of delusion is voting this party again on the promise they can accomplish those changes when they had two decades to accomplish those changes but haven’t. Dominicans are a special breed

Cozier, we have been hearing this for the past 19 years from your failed incompetent Skerrit. Don`t hang your hat too high. We need decent Prime Minister & non-corrupt Government. Skerrit and his corrupt government has failed , the Kalinago/Carib people and Domininca over all. Go to Yam Piece, Gutter, Stockfarm Penville, Lagon, Newtown, Grand Bay, the famous “Sout City”, rich in culture etc , and after Pierre Charles` Death, Skerrit and this incompetent Labour government has failed the people of many villages. Skerrit is all about fanfare, talk, and mepuis. Skerrit knows nothing of Socio-economic development, muchless to address the poverty and unemployment in our remote villages and communities overall. We need to know about our passport sales. I will say no more, but leave you in the hands Hon. Lennox…

Really? Such an empty speech from someone who is only there for his personal benefit and the people behind him using him as a puppet. When people have no moral compass they will do and accept anything. Its all about greed and selfishness. Cozier should be asked, has he accounted for the SHARP funds? For those who do not believe in God and scriptures, let this be known, But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

Waste of time candidate. Just talk and nothing more. The last 20 yrs labor won in the Kalinago constituency and since Skerrit became PM, he has managed to buy and later fire the candidate every blessed election, to give the impression that is the candidates that failed to deliver. But he can’t fool us anymore. We know is roosevelt Skerrit that has failed and tricked the Kalinago people, just as he failed and tricked the Portsmouth, Cottage, paix Bouche, Mahault Roseau Valley, Laplaine, Castle Bruce, Grandfond, Grandbay, petite Savanne, Soufriere and Vieille case constituencies. Is the same damn failure and lies in Every single constituency while his foreign friends and fake diplomats like Paola Zimpolli fighting in NY courts for their millions from our passports.

More of the same empty, tired, overused promises. Next you are going to promise to bring Heaven to Dominica. Why have all these glorious things failed to materialize during DLP’s twenty (20) consecutive years in power? The DLP has no legs to stand on. This is the most corrupt, inadequate and lying government Dominicans have ever seen. The people need action not more of the same weary utterances. The country needs a different team to pilot the Ship of State to safe harbor from this turbulence we are presently experiencing.

  19. Kalinago
    September 9, 2019

I believe any so called poor and developing countries such as Dominica needs a government to stay in power for a very long time. Changing a government or leader too often will have set backs. If Haiti could keep a government long enough they may get it right eventually because a country is like a big ship that takes a lot of time to turn especially if things are in bad shape. I do not care which government and its not for me to decide but which ever one needs time, 20,30,40 years, I don’t know but as long as it takes to get it right. A country needs stability which takes time, there’s gonna be trial and errors for a few years and its citizens needs to understand that but with the right plan it will get there.

      September 10, 2019

      @ Kalinago.
You said “…as long as it takes to get it right…”.You are very wrong. This is a democracy, if the people have not seen progress after 4 or 5 years, they should not vote for the same leaders again. St. Lucia and St. Kitts gained independence at about the same time as us, their governments are set up in about the same way but their economies are doing much better than ours. Why? They kept changing governments until they got the right people in leadership. We must do the same. We must change government for the betterment of our country. Change is a must!

      September 10, 2019

This makes absolutely no sense, developed countries change governments all the time, presidents and leaders are given term limits. These people take governance seriously. The majority of new DLP candidates were offered something. The poor get poorer while these politicians take the people for a joy ride. They are enjoying the good times, many don’t even believe in God, they are just pretending to be holy and that they care about people. Dominica is run on passport sales. Where is Dominica Labour Party getting its money from? They get millions while we get crumbs.

As far as I know marijuana possession is still illegal in Dominica.
Why is the PM serenading marijuana smokers in that crowd, encouraging them to smoke the “highest grade”? The song
he was singing is “Dreams of Brighter Days” by Busy Signal & RC.
These are the lyrics dedicated to the smoking of marijuana:
“Dreams of brighter days aha, aha, aha
Highest grades we blaze aha, aha, ah.”
Moments later, you could clearly see the puffs of smoke rising from the crowd.
This is shameful behavior coming fom a PM, I must say.

  22. Empty promises
    September 9, 2019

How many promises were made to the Kalinago people at that launching? I lost count. All of them to be done in the next
term of office, if they vote for Labour. Does Mr. Skerrit realize that his party has been in office for the last 19 years?
He had 19 years to do ALL of what he is now promising. Kalinago people, I know you are not stupid to believe this
    nonsense from Skerrit.

    September 9, 2019

Cozier, why did you shave your head? Are you trying to appear less Kalinago? Let your hair grow long.

Dominica is a free democracy with equal human rights and equal choices. Any one of any gender can adopt any hairstyle of their choice. Anyone who tries to harass people because of their hairstyle is displaying dictatorial tendencies. Just like those uwp “I demand and I command you” to meet my 14 days demands or else.
Real dictatorship at its highest level.

I’m going to translate for you all what Reginald Austrie said …
“We beat them in 2000 when things was bad” (DLP says they met things bad)
“We beat them in 2005 when things was bad” (DLP made no improvement after 5 years in office)
“We beat them in 2009 when things was bad” (DLP made no improvement after 5 more years in office)
“We beat them in 2014 when things was getting better”(DLP made little improvement after 15 years in office)
“Today things good.” (Believe that at your own risk)

    • Joseph John
      September 10, 2019

Today thing are better than expected in spite of the obstructive tendencies of the uwp, in spite of the ravages of Mathew, Erica and Maria.
A better future because of the competence of the DLP in crisis management re Maria and their prompt reconstruction response.
No way are we going to risk our development with the fake issues of the uwp. They only know how to lie and obstruct, but will desert and go M.I.A. in time of disaster.
Yesterday they raised thousand of dollars for Bahamas, good job. But how much did they raise for Dominica re Maria. What did they do to help Dominicans re Maria…one big fat nothing. They claim that they are not in Government (Cabinet) to help their fellow Dominicans but they can help Bahamas. They even criticize the DLP government for helping the Bahamas to the tune of US$100,000.
So they are friends of the Bahamas but enemies if their own country. Repay them with no votes, zero, and lost deposits, 21 to 0 in favour of the Red Nation.

What is the ecomony of the kalinago territory? Where are people going to find monies to pay for their health care. Twenty (20) long years in bringing these people to extreme poverty and still asking for five more years of deeper level of poverty. Shame on this Gov’t.

    • Hush
      September 10, 2019

Do you know the definition of poverty??

I will give you an example. Lennox poor judgement and lack of understanding of basic elementary issues. This is poverty

90% of The uwp candidates are unemployed which makes our unemployment rate hire. That is poverty

Uwp blindness in and consistent attack on progress

Uwp constantly bashing our young people and our senior citizens calling the greedy and not needy.

Those are the greatest level of poverty in Dominica. And you all are the contributors.

So tell them go find work and so they are able to PAY TAX AND SOCIAL SECURITY AND CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS NATION BUILDING

  27. Racism in Dominica?
    September 9, 2019

Is Mr. Skerrit a racist? Why would he tell the Kalinago people that because his complexion and hair he believes he has “Kalinago blood” and Lennox clearly doesn’t, so that means they should vote for Labour?
Is this what politics has come to in Dominica? Vote for me because I look more like you? Sad.

    • Joseph John
      September 10, 2019

Do you mean that because Lennox does not behave like a Dominican he should be rejected at the polls with a lost deposit. He does not talk like he is from Marigot and does not live there. He does not even talk like a Dominican. He wants to be considered urban upper class and does not identify with Marigot (cocoy) or Dominicans creole culture.
Is that why he is trying to destroy Dominicans reputation at home and abroad.
Dominica is a racially diversified country. A mixture of African, European and Kalinago. Many of us know that some of our ancestors belong to the Kalinago race but we were conditioned by the colonial mulatto plantation owners to reject our Kalinago siblings. Skerro’s look alike statement is an initiative for us to acknowledge our indigenous heritage and recognize them with equal citizenship entitlement. From here onwards let the “cwayib ki veni wozo , cwayib ki asea syndrome end.
Let us embrace our people and celebrate our unified racial destiny.

    • Joseph John
      September 10, 2019

@ Racism, you are the only one trying to introduce racism in Dominica’s politics. You fake attempt to inject racism into Dominica will not succeed. Dominica can never be like Trump America. You sound like a white member of Trump support base of white supremacists. Stop it now.

Those of us old enough to remember Ashley Linton, need not asks where his light complexion came from?

I know but I doh talking eh!

So, I suggest one asks  what was (is) Ashley Linton to Lennox Linton, and me?

And by the way I the kid dark; black, as I am; I am filled with Carib blood: My hair is not as brittle as that of Roosevelt; nevertheless; my grandmothers, mother which (was) my great-grandmother is (was) a black Carib born in the village of  Sinekou; hence I name one of my  granddaughters Sinekouri!

All of my grandchildren are born in America, when her kids asks her what dose her name mean, she will refer them to her roots in Dominica, they will forever remember their grandfather originate in the village of Wesley, and had Carib blood in him!

Roosevelt hair is brittle, however that does not legitimized his belief  that he is Carib.
