DLP’s Gregory Riviere releases statement on Marigot road conditions and international airport development

Mr Gregory Riviere – Caretaker Dominica Labour Party – Marigot Constituency

Gregory Riviere, Caretaker of the Dominica Labour Party for the Marigot Constituency and Former Government Minister, has released a press statement addressing the community of Marigot regarding the pressing issues related to road conditions and the ongoing development of the international airport. In light of today’s protests, where roads in Sam’s Gutter were blocked by residents demanding a listening ear from officials, Riviere reiterated the Dominica Labour Party’s (DLP) unwavering dedication to supporting the constituents of the area amid the challenges posed by this major infrastructure project.

Mr. Riviere acknowledged the public’s concerns over the excessive dust and road deterioration linked to the transportation of materials via heavy machinery from quarry sites in Hatton Garden. He noted that these issues are symptomatic of the broader undertaking associated with the construction of the Dominica International Airport, which is viewed as a pivotal project aimed at fostering economic growth, enhancing connectivity, and opening new avenues for opportunities across the nation.

In response to the impact of this development on the local community, Mr. Riviere assured residents that their issues would be met with prompt attention. He announced his intention to personally engage with community members in the Sams Gutter area on February 11, 2025, to better understand their grievances firsthand. He emphasized the necessity of taking immediate action to address the dust and road conditions affecting the Marigot region.

To this end, he outlined several steps being taken to alleviate these concerns:

1. Enhanced Dust Control: A water truck that had previously been assigned for dust management will resume operations. With directives in place, the road will be treated with water at least three times daily to reduce dust exposure and improve overall air quality for local residents.

2. Road Repairs and Maintenance: The Public Works Department is set to begin patching up damaged roadways, starting from the Melville Hall area. These repairs aim to enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians who have experienced difficulties due to the heavy equipment traffic.

“We recognize that progress often requires sacrifice, but we assure you that your concerns are being heard and addressed,” shared Riviere.

My friend Karissa, I hope you didn’t have to rub yourself with alkali or had to go to no obia man this time to see what the hell is going on in Marigot or Dominica.
I hope you realized that Skerrit is on a mission to destroy Dom-in-a-cans for the Chinese and everything he does is back to front. I hope you realized that Skerrit embarrassed you in front of your own people because he exposed you to be unwise and unfit according to this passage of scripture in Luke 14:28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’

If you all had counted the cost there would be something in place to protect the health of your people from all that dust and terrible road. Man with that foolishness my advice to you is go and sing on him period.

Hmmmmmm, what is in the dark MUST come to light for jah is in control.

I am still amazed that the Wesley people are so moomoo about what is happening to them. That could never happen in the 80’s and 90’s when you had them boys working for man like Joff, Teeyolen, Garrick, Spencer and others that would take no sheeet. Them truck-boys as my aunty would call them (drivers, conductors), farmers in their own right were no nonsense and viewed Wesley as their own to protect and serve. Even Marigot and Calibishie people respected them. Now Wesley has gone to the dogs and her children are left moomoo and scrunting. Sad sad sad

Now they have a crystal-fele playing man and believes he own the place even hating people that sing the popular calypso by Trendsetter called Dee Pee Pee. Wake up Wesley! Marigot has once again set the example for you all so be quick and follow suit. Keep them on the back foot!

Karesah, Karesah….you and your Ian Doug last again my boy. It had to take the Marigot people to block the road for you and your DLP Cabal to call the new airport management and forced them to meet with the people despite their apprehension. You see, you from Marigot and you know the Ah-Fou-Ah-Wi people doh play my bro. No disrespect to Bawi but Marigot is different.

If is Salisbury or somewhere else the first thing that would have happened is bow bow, tear gas in people rhassee. But somebody was smart enough to smell the set-up or maybe a SNITCH sell it out so they decided to go easy     . I still cant believe they did not send the mongoose gang to tear gas Marigot people. Well done MARIGOT!

You see, next time Bawi must block the road in a way that allow all vehicles to go inside the village. That way they can bouche everything including the po-po

This should have been part of the plan in the first place. It should not have required local people to blockade the road in desperation. Roads are being ripped up all over the place as a result of construction projects and there’s no remedial work being undertaken – until people are forced to protest. These government ministers are completely useless.

The bad roads and general neglect of Marigot is typical of this rogue administration. Their mantra is you either with me or against me. Roosevelt and his disciples would not rest until they beat the Margot people into submission.

Residents of Margot proudly stand your ground, no retreat no surrender. The brave fries once but a coward dies many times.

Margot is the bastion of resistance to the cruelty and tyranny of a most demonically depraved oligarchy.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 7 Thumb down 5

So before the protest, Gregory Riviere had no interest in the people who from the looks of things were/are being severely affected. Why was he dreaming for so long?
