DNO POLL Result: UWP Deputy Leader “should resign.”

As delegates of the United Workers Party (UWP)  meet in Mahaut to table a vote of no confidence in its Deputy Political Leader, a large majority of participants in a DNO poll, have voted for him to resign.

The UWP official, who has over the past several weeks been embroiled in a serious public controversy, has rejected calls by Political Leader, Lennox Linton, for him to resign as Deputy Leader of the party.

DNO sought the opinions of readers on the matter and, of the 786 people who participated, 63% (494) voted in favour of the Deputy Leader resigning while 27% (213) voted against the idea.

The poll results are posted below.

That is not a leadership position thing. This is a deputy leader involve an allegation, where he was charged and where a monor is involved. All he had to do is resgined quietly and it would not have reach at that stage. If someone is alleged of touching his daughter what would he do or say. He don’t want to resgine, and he wants judicial review so the charge will not be read to him. If it is an allegation why he never made a statement saying it was not true? This is a man I admired, and I still like him but wrong is wrong. He should never find him self in that situation knowing the man he is. He and his party campaigned against that.

I think that poll is silly, like something Matt Peltier would have dreamt up. It is an internal matter for the UWP and they have to deal with it, in house.

How can it be merely an internal matter when this was a man who was elected by the people to serve an entire constituency? When political figures are embroiled in scandal, then it becomes more than just an internal matter.

I did not vote because I find for the nature of the alleged accusation the deputy leader, if he really loved his party, supporters and friends, he should have resigned longtime on his own. On the other hand, UWP should not use any delegate conference to force him out because that;s exactly what the stubborn deputy wants so he could use that to bring down UWP. Since we all know where Linton and the UWP stand, they should just live this thing alone and allow the man to fall in his own hole.

You cannot have both ways, he should have resigned until the investigation and court case is over but he refused , he also refused to talk to those in the party who were trying to reach out to him, what was that all about is it he have reached a point in his career where he don’t need them any more well he should go.

You are one of those evil heads who does not even know how to answer one question about Layou River,or can answer what it would mean to Dominica.
Linton was the only one to challenge the vanishing into thin air of more than $300,000,000.00, of our passport money at Layou…We have no money,no hotel…It is shameful that wicked, develish and evil souls like you,TOTALLY DEVOID OF MORALITY,are Dominican.

This deputy leader is an absolute and total let down…He went against all the good principles he brought to the electorate in the months preceeding the 2014 general election…What he is now FAMOUS/INFAMOUS for, is to bad talk Linton to any fly that passes by…Be is a terrible member to have on ones side, and the party must be aware of that….He was the weakest link in the party, and some Labourites took full advantage of his weakness…SHAME ON HIM!!!!

You sound ignorant, illiterate and brainless…Have you been listening to any form of news? The matter involved a minor,a child below the age of consent…It’s not a Linton matter. Do you have any moral fibre in you???

So what did Linton do? Based on your statement, you seem to be blaming Linton for Joshua’s behavior…. I hope God looks down on your foolishness with pity and forgive you. I really do feel sorry for you.

Its not a UWP, ot Linton thing. It is a matter of abuse of a child, a school child.
Joshua should excuse himself, just as Ian Pinard did. This saga is very disappointing, it is the child who is the victim. What is wrong with us Dominicans?

There is no party without problems. When a party deals with its problems the way UWP is doing it is because they have good morals. That is the reason why UWP will stand. However, what is good is never popular. Stand Lennox, there is no victory without a battle.

I am strong supporter of the UWP and I did not vote, though I wish the man for conscience sake would resign. But I am disappointed with the leadership of UWP since they have so many wise men in the party and yet they allowing one man to destroy the party, just before an election Skerrit will soon call. They should just let the man hang his ownself in the pole and move on. I mean DLP is the ruling party and has been for 16 years. Yet up to this day we don’t know who is the deputy leader of the party and therefore UWP should not hurt the party because of the deputy leader.
