Dominica among 80 countries calling for respect of China’s sovereignty

Dominica is among 80 developing countries in the United Nations (UN) that have called for the respect of China’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. The call was made last week in a statement, which was signed by Dominica, at the general debate on human rights held by the UN’s General Assembly’s Third Committee that deals with social, cultural, and humanitarian issues.

“We oppose politicization of human rights and double standards, or interference in States’ internal affairs under the pretext of human rights,” the statement reads.

At the heart of the matter is a statement by developed countries, such as the US, UK, France, Germany, Japan, and others, which said that they “have ongoing concerns about serious human rights violations in China.”

“Two years ago, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights’ assessment on Xinjiang, concluded that serious human rights violations had been committed in Xinjiang, and that the scale of the arbitrary and discriminatory detention of Uyghurs and other predominately Muslim minorities in Xinjiang ‘may constitute international crimes, in particular crimes against humanity,'” the developed countries’ statement reads.

They called on China “to uphold the international human rights obligations that it has voluntarily assumed, and to fully implement all UN recommendations including from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights’ assessment, Treaty Bodies and other United Nations human rights mechanisms.”

“This includes releasing all individuals arbitrarily detained in both Xinjiang and Tibet, and urgently clarifying the fate and whereabouts of missing family members,” the statement further said.

They also called on China for transparency and openness on the entire matter.

“Transparency and openness are key to allaying concerns, and we call on China to allow unfettered and meaningful access to Xinjiang and Tibet for independent observers, including from the UN, to evaluate the human rights situation,” the statement said.

“No country has a perfect human rights record, but no country is above fair scrutiny of its human rights obligations. It is incumbent on all of us not to undermine international human rights commitments that benefit us all, and for which all states are accountable.”

However, the developing countries in their statement pointed out that the issues are China’s internal affairs and called for non-interference by other countries.

“Respect for sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states and non-interference in internal affairs of sovereign states represent basic norms governing international relations,” their statement said. “We maintain that all parties should abide by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, adhere to the principles of universality, impartiality, objectivity, and non-selectivity, and respect the right of the people of each state to choose independently the path for development in accordance with their national conditions. All human rights should be treated with the same emphasis, with sufficient importance attached to economic, social, and cultural rights and the right to development in particular.”

At the general debate, Zhang Jun, China’s permanent representative to the United Nations said the issues pointed out by the developed countries on his country’s human rights records are “lies” and “totally unfounded.”

He accused countries such as the US and UK of double standards when it comes to human rights.

“Countries like the United States and the United Kingdom have turned a blind eye to and covered up their own serious human rights violations such as racial discrimination while pointing fingers at and making groundless accusations against developing countries,” Zhang said.

“This double standard will find no support. I would like to point out that dialogue and cooperation represent the right way forward.”

The countries that signed the statement calling for the respect of China’s sovereignty are:  Pakistan, Algeria, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahrain, Belarus, Benin, Bolivia (Plurinational State of), Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, China, Comoros, Congo, Cuba, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Dominica, Egypt, EI Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Grenada, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Iran (Islamic Republic of), Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kiribati, Kyrgyzstan, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nauru, Nepal, Nicaragua, Niger, Papua New Guinea, Russian Federation, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, State of Palestine, Sudan, Suriname, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Togo, Tonga, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Venezuela, Yemen, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Well, I didn’t see other regional islands like Barbados, St Kitts, St Vincent or St Lucia on the list and I wonder why? Are their leaders smarter than the known Starboy of stupidity? Or could it be that those who signed with China already know their legal future is in question by the west and its only a matter of time before they are permanently suited?

China accusing the US and UK of racial discrimination is craaazy considering that they literally have people in detention camps because of their ethnicity.

The U.S. and U.K. are the least racist countries on earth right now as they are willfuly flooding their countries with black and brown people to the point that they will soon be minority white.

In 2020 the U.S. government (under Donald Trump) tolerated race based riots that resulted in the burning of cities, looting and destruction of businesses for the sake of a black criminal (George Floyd). All this happened during a pandemic when the government prohibited people from leaving their homes. People were allowed to ignore “public health policies” set by the government in order to riot and protest.

If these countries were racist those riots would have been quelled in short time with a resulting death toll like the Tiananmen Square incident.

So because ethnic cleansing, enslavement, human rights abuse, censorship of free speech and more goes on within the borders of a country that gives you bags of money, you’re content to turn a blind eye to it and say it’s none of your business? And you consider yourself Christian? This statement makes Dominicans complicit. May your God forgive you.

That’s an issue for China to solve. No other nation can solve it for them.

There are serious human rights violations in China, we all know that. There’s nothing political about admitting that. We all know what happened during covid for instance, how early covid whistleblowers where arrested and jailed for just raising awareness that a pandemic seems to be upon us. One of the doctors was made to sign a confession saying that he was just spreading rumors, there was no pandemic (he later died). But the way we have sold our souls to China, that we have to repeatedly assert that we support the one China policy in every speech, whether it’s Independence Day celebrations or the inauguration of a village council chairman and have to sign whatever statements supporting them at the UN, no matter how absurd. Do we as a nation really believe in the One China Policy? That Tiawan ‘belongs’ to China and should be reunited with the mainland, by force, if necessary, even though China and the CCP has never governed Taiwan at any point in their history?

Dominica has no right talking human rights. Dominica is one of the nations involved in violating human rights. Our records are not accurate with human rights watch or the United Nations. This country has been one that has not been working. We know what you have all have doing

When all of you all are US citizens who the hell you all think you, all are for going against the US. A rolling stone gathers no moss.

Seeking assistance from Dominica concerning human rights issues or violations the call goes unanswered. I have written to the President of Dominica, Ministry of Foreign affairs, the red cross, Attorney general, prime minister of Dominica minister of national security, Speaker of the house, I visited the embassy of Venezuela I wrote to the People’s Republic of China, Russian Federation, Human Rights in Switzerland, I wrote to those in the United States, I told my school,, thank goodness I am a student political science student4.
