Dominica and St. Lucia gain upper hand in their matches on day one of Windwards U19 Cricket Tournament:

Dominica had the upper hand on Day One in their match against St Vincent and the Grenadines in the Winlott Windward Island Cricket Board Under 19 Tournament. The match was played at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium today.

St Vincent and the Grenadines won the toss and decided to field. Dominica were 115 for 5 wickets at one stage but reached 186 all out with the highest score of 46 coming from Captain Stephan Pascal. Edmund Morancie got 38, Jahson Vidal 25 and Sherquan Toussaint 24.

Bowling for St Vincent & the Grenadines, Solomon Bascombe took 2 for 39.

St Vincent could only manage 75 runs before losing all their wickets. Reshawn Lewis top scored with 31 runs. Bowling for Dominica, Joel Durand got 3 for 13 and Sherquan Toussaint 3 for 34. After being sent to bat a second time, Dominica closed the day at 5 runs without loss.

In the other match of the day, Grenada were bowled out for 76 runs playing against St Lucia, at the Benjamin’s Park in Portsmouth. Mahid Lambert and Devonie Joseph both scored 23. Tarrique Edwards captured 3 wickets for 9 runs and Amari Venner 3 wickets for 8 runs for St Lucia. In their first innings, St. Lucia were all out for 149 runs. Tarrique Edwards top scored with 38.

The matches will continue tomorrow from 9:30 at the same venues.
