“The Dominica Chess federation feels very confident in their performance as every match played brought new layers of experience and wisdom, thus allowing the players and the sport to grow,” PRO of the Federation, Hassan Robinson, stated in a press release.
He said the Olympiad tournaments have brought new “vigor and ambition” to the Federation as the team performed “masterfully” amongst some of the brightest and toughest players in the world and came home proudly.
“The support received from everyone involved on the journey is one that has provided great motivation and courage to the team,” Robinson added.
He said the Federation hopes that this will help inspire others to take on the sport as they continue with their action plan with even bigger ambitions for the sport and culture moving forward.
The exposure to the top chest players in the world has to be beneficial. Even though the local chess players did not place near the top this experience should give them a renewed and stronger interest for the game.
My hope is that internally they develop the game from the grassroot. More clubs, more events, more enthusiasm, more coaches will usher in a new aeon (life) for the sport.
Much success fellows in all your future endeavours.
Just another world beating performance, I guess. Dominicans are easily pleased.
While you are talking others are working… Success is made not by one day. A little steps forward in long time make a vast difference. And in the chess, as any field, you must lose a lot before you became #1. No city was built in one day.
Just only this year Dominica registered its own Chess Federation. And I am happy to see that this organization is working on engaging people to play chess. The more it spreads in country, the better results the team will have in the world competitions. Thank you to the News Media for popularization and support.

Capablanca’s book “Chess Game Tutorial” from Cuban’s and the world chess champion is the best for to start learning the game for parents and…
‘Chess is known to develop brain, character, and creativity in children’. Well I’m sorry to say it hasn’t done much for your brain as yet. As for character, you better ensure that all members of government, the cabal, all DLP supporters, members of the militia and members of the judicial system take up chess as a matter of absolute priority. Is chess the saviour of our wonderful island? I don’t think so, do come again!! Chess is not the healer of a rotten society.
