Discover Dominica Authority (DDA), in partnership with the largest shopping mall in Guadeloupe, the Centre Commercials de Destrelland, mounted a promotion of some upcoming Dominican events in the French island from the 4th to the 6th of April.
Marketing Executive of Discover Dominica, Daphne Vidal, said the upcoming Jazz ‘n Creole festival, Hike Fest and Tourism Awareness Month, all activities planned for the month of May, provide the perfect opportunity to put Dominica in the minds of the people of Guadeloupe as their destination of choice when they are planning their holiday weekends for the month .
Some of the hotels which were present at the promotion include Anchorage Hotel, Fort Young Hotel, Sunset Bay Club, Tambrin Tree Hotel, and Jungle Bay.
Accompanying the DDA were, Whitchurch Travel and some members of a Kalinago dance group, who promoted promoted their culture and sold Kalinago craft.
Vidal said that the response from the French people has been very good. She said those who visited the island before said the experience was a wonderful one.
Over 15,000 Guadeloupians visited Dominica in 2012.
