Dominica Relief Efforts in Houston

Dear friends and family,

As you know, Dominica has been devastated by the impact of Hurricane Maria leaving reportedly wide infrastructural damage on the island. Reports of the exact extent of any casualties involved are still in-coming. All systems of communication have been affected and therefore only the US-based arm of DNO is currently functional. While efforts are being made on the ground, DNO will be sharing relevant and verified announcements/information with the general public until further developments. Currently, the emphasis is on recovery and assistance. The following flyer contains contact information for residents of the Houston area who wish to help with these efforts. Thank you.

The following message is directly from the organizers.

All [we] ask is two things:

1. SHARE THE FLYER with your friends directly in WhatsApp and text messages.

2. SHARE THE FLYER on your Facebook page, instagram or other social media.

Please come out and support this drive to aid Dominica. WE NEED YOUR HELP!

From London. Can anyone confirm if there is any news from the Grand Savanne, Salisbury, Colihaut, Canefield and Petite Soufriere areas? Very anxious to hear news of father in Grand Savanne and family members across the island.

Can someone also confirm the extent of any casualties involved and which part of the island the reports are coming from. Anything will be better than what we have at the moment.

While we thank God for Q95 and the information they providing during this very difficult time, let’s not forget that Skerrit and his attorneys had pile of lawsuits against them, with the view to shut them off! We should all use this opportunity to let the PM know that we not only need Q95 saved from his wrath, but we also need them to be stronger and much louder, for the sake of Dominica.

My friend from Dominica said that she heard from her sister who works at Ross, this afternoon. Her sister has a satellite phone as she works for student housing and she said that they were ok in Portsmouth. She had a really hard time connecting on the phone though because of the weather but eventually got through.

Maybe you can contact Ross and see if other staff have satellite phones so you can get some specific info on students.

The best of luck to you.

I would say based on the situation that: hardly anyone has internet that is up; no running water (DWASCO), except rain; no electricity (DOMLEC), flooding is wide spread, structural damage is wide spread. How many are lost or injured, we don’t know.
You don’t have 3-5 hurricanes coming one right after the other without GEOENGINEERING interface. This is weather weaponization warfare. There is nothing normal about the incidence of all of these hurricanes one right after the next.
DA thought that they wouldn’t be affected and that the cruise ships could come in. I previously said “hurricane season isn’t over yet.” And it still may not be over. I feel for the people affected. It is a mess.

  36. A country in serious crisis
    September 19, 2017

My heart and prayers go out to my beloved country Dominica. I hope the news there is much better than what I see and hear.
This is not time for politics because all of our people UWP, DLP, DFP are hurting and maybe crying to. However, going back to Erika in 2015, Skerrit told us all assistance should be sent to the government and they would distribute it. As we all know he used to play his politics and I am not going that route again. I want to play my part this time but only if I could send it to a local church or any group I can honestly trust. Please advise on this one

    • Let The Truth Be Known - Original
      September 20, 2017

When you comment always stick to the issue. PM Skeritt is not playing politics. He is a politician and the Prime Minister of Dominica.
The problem with some of you is, if you are a DLP non-supporter, you develop a hatred for and are disrespectful to the PM and DLP supporters. Some people are peaceful and some are not. This has been too conspicuous in some of your comments.
The opposition supporters cannot comment without placing politics in it and mentioning the name of the PM as if he is as bad and worst than you.
I am informing you, this devastating Hurricane Maria is not without reasons. Unfortunately the good experienced it with the bad.
Matthew 5:45 – . . . For He makes his sun to rise on the bad and the good, and causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust.
It takes two. I am wondering if this terrible situation will bring peace and unity in D/ca and among all D/can residents for there are some who may soon forget. Will these ever learn a lesson?
