Dominica’s National Under-23 3×3 Basketball Team has departed for the British Virgin Islands to compete in the first-ever ANOCES U23 3×3 Championship.
The Dominica Amateur Basketball Association announced via press release that the team left the island today, carrying high hopes and enthusiasm as they prepare to represent Dominica in what is being described as a significant moment for Caribbean basketball.
The inaugural tournament is expected to showcase some of the region’s best emerging talent while helping to strengthen sporting ties across the Caribbean and further promote the growth of 3×3 basketball.
Ahead of the competition, DABA extended greetings and best wishes to all teams, tournament officials, organizers, and partners taking part in the historic event.
Reportedly, the association also highlighted the contributions of Velly, General Secretary of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC), praising his commitment and leadership in helping bring the championship to life.
Recognition was also given to the President of the St. Kitts Basketball Association, whom DABA described as the driving force behind the ANOCES 3×3 initiative. According to the association, his efforts and vision have continued to encourage the advancement of basketball development throughout the region.

DABA additionally expressed gratitude to the British Virgin Islands Olympic Committee and the tournament’s Local Organizing Committee for their hospitality and the work invested in preparing the event for participating countries.
The organization also publicly thanked the Dominica Olympic Committee for covering the full cost of the team’s participation in the championship. DABA noted that the support of the DOC remains essential in helping Dominican athletes access opportunities for regional and international competition.
DABA officials and the association’s president also commended the players and coaching staff for the effort and preparation they put in ahead of the tournament, emphasizing the value of events like these in exposing young athletes to higher levels of competition and development opportunities.
Dominica’s delegation is comprised of players Karim Daniel, Andel Olivacee, Yawani Regis, and Rene Williams. Yannick Regis will serve as head coach, while Yehudi John will represent Dominica among the tournament officials.
“As the competition begins, may this inaugural championship foster unity, sportsmanship, friendship, and excellence both on and off the court,” the association stated.
