Dominican gives back

PRO of the Grotto Home Parry Bellot accepts donation from Yehbinda Ambrose and his wife Cassandra

A Dominican citizen living in the US who saw the need to make a contribution to his country has done so with the assistance of social media.

Boston resident, Yehbinda Ambrose, accompanied by his wife Cassandra Carrington, on Monday presented a supply of food to the Grotto Home for the Homeless.

Ambrose, who is on island for the independence celebrations, said when he decided to give a helping hand to the land of his birth he took to social media networks such as Facebook to champion his cause.

He said this was very helpful as he received several food items from friends and co-workers through that initiative.

Ambrose said his gesture is the result of a passion for assisting needy people.

“I am not rich in America, I don’t have money, I am broke, OK…. and I figured the best I could do is try something and the smallest thing I get would matter to me and I ended up getting this barrel filled from friends and family, neighbors and co- workers. I am grateful that I could play my part from my heart,” Ambrose said filled with emotion.

Secretary of the board of directors of the Grotto home,Tina Alexander, said the Grotto Home is grateful for the kind gesture from Ambrose.

Why can’t we be greatful for what they have done. The Bible said, it is easer for a camel to go through the eye of a niddle, than for a ‘Rich Man’ to go to heaven. Just be thankful that they think of Dominica. Dominican’s, stop being petty and be more thankful for the little things that people do. We must lift each other up in possitive things. If all of us give a little it adds up. Every drop fills the bucket. Just pray for every little bit to be multiplied. I live in the USA, and I have been contributing towards toy drives, books for school and contributing to DADA in all the Dominica Independence Programs. I pray one day that I could have a library for the young generation coming up. Education is key, not beauty and wealth that was not earned.” Love More.”

Nice gesture, sure, but the title should read different. It was his idea, I applaud that, he sought assistance, I understand that, he was able to secure some items from friends, great. But as I said earlier; the title should read differently. I would never go on DNO or any media program and accept such attention when the items given did not come from me personally.

He did not say the items came from him. He said he took the initiative and was awarded these items. Hello, isn’t the thought what matters?

Hey Satelite stop hating and please do something to help as well then you won’t be jealous of what Mr Ambrose and Wife did. It is not what was given but the kind gesture which comes from his heart. Whether is neigbour or cousin who gave, it was his and wife’s initiative that got the barrel, so get your own barel and send as well. There are organisations here who would benefit from your barrel.
