Caribonix, a Dominican Tech start-up, emerged as winner of the validation stage of the Caribbean Tech Entrepreneurs Program (CTEP) Regional Competition Finals.
Team Caribonix was one of 40 startups competing for over US$40,000, direct access to the Branson Entrepreneurship Center and support from the World Bank, among other prizes.
The start-up was founded by Oudin Samuel, awardee of OECS top 30 under 30 entrepreneur (2017), and supported in business development by Lizra Fabien. The experience was said to be most valuable and insightful to the young entrepreneurs.
Caribonix is an all-in-one website management platform for small business owners to save time building and managing their websites, giving business owners and their teams the freedom to focus on doing what they do best — core business, customers and products.
Caribonix provides solutions for dealing with frustrating web technology, hosting, domain registration, maintenance, updates and design.
The CTEP Regional Competition was organized by the Caribbean Development Bank in partnership with the Climate Innovation Center and funded by the World Bank.
The competition was divided into three stages: Idea, Validation and Revenue. Caribonix entered at the validation stage.
The three-month long programme received participation from 164 entrepreneurs from various Caribbean countries. The courses in the program were facilitated by tech industry experts and business leaders from the Caribbean and the rest of the world.
The participants in the program were required to develop a pitch deck, early stage prototypes, produce a pitch video, attend sessions in addition to completed course assignments and quizzes.
“The team is extremely excited and proud to be among the winners of the (CTEP) Regional Competition Finals. Participating in the programme was challenging but it helped us validate our business and better understand how to serve our target audience. The overall experience was awesome, now we can focus on moving onto the next stage, growing Caribonix and creating employment opportunities” commented Oudin Samuel, founder of Caribonix.
The CTEP Regional Competition winners were:
-Idea Stage: Hive (St. Lucia) and Dev758 (St. Lucia)
-Validation Stage: Caribonix (Dominica) and KaribFusion (Antigua and Barbuda)
-Revenue Stage: EcoCarib Inc (St. Lucia) and Reneecentsationz (Grenada).
