Nationals of Dominica residing in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis donated a cheque of EC$3,250 to the Dominica Education Trust Fund towards the advancement of education in Dominica.

The funds were raised through activities organised by the group to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Dominica’s independence.

“The Trust Fund was selected because we believe that education is the key to fighting poverty and through our support a child is afforded the opportunity to achieve, at minimum, a secondary level education,” said Beverly Labadie, member of the Dominican Contingency, St Kitts and Nevis.

The Dominica Education Trust Fund was established to provide financial assistance to students whose families are experiencing significant financial difficulties. Funds are raised through donations from private individuals, clubs, local, regional and international associations and by fund raising activities.

The Government of Dominica also provides an annual subvention for students’ assistance.

Mr. Skerrit, according to you, “Dominica is doing so much better than the other countries in the OECS” I wonder when the many Kitticians who are now working in Dominica are going to give to some worthy cause in their country .

Wow. I’m a Dominican (descent anyway) born & living in the UK, and whenever I see big groups of Dominicans (that don’t live in Dominica), it’s one of the most beautiful & fascinating thing ever, there’s so many Dominicans around the world. God bless these people & thanks for your donation.

There are probably way more of us in the “big ol’ US of A than anywhere else. God bless America for giving us the opportunity to develop our talents and sharpen our skills in the first place!
