Dominica’s youth urged to have a closer relationship with God

Kareem Bertrand

Youth leader and banker, Kareem Betrand has encouraged Dominica’s youth to have a closer relationship with God.

He spoke at the 2019 Diocesan World Youth Day Rally held on Saturday April 13, 2019, at the Newtown Savannah.

He said that any activity that the youth decide to take part in, they should not be afraid.

“He [God] says in the book of Jeremiah,” Bertrand said, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart. I appointed you as prophet to the nations.”

Bertrand continued, “He told him to go forth, ‘even though you are a child like many of us here,’ “I am sending you. Do not be afraid. If you don’t know what to say, its okay, I will give you the words.”

The young leader asked, “Who has time to worry; who has time to care what people have to say?” and assured his peers, “He is telling us today that whatever He is calling us to do He is with us. Whether it is your speech, whether its volunteering for ministry whatever it is that you want to do, God will never forsake you.”

Betrand added  “Which Politician you know that can turn water into wine? Which bouyon artist, Asa or Benji you know that can walk on water? Which doctor do you know can bring a man back to life after he has died? None, and that is the awesome God that we serve.”

The rally was held under the theme, “I am the servant of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38).

Jesus is calling. Let us listen to his voice. Let us pay attention to the invitation to have a closer relation with Him.
During the remainder of this holy week let us improve our holy awareness of His message to return to Him and put our trust in Him.
God’s want us to be healthy, happy and holy.

Meanwhile, the burning of Sodom and Gomorrah will continue.

I don’t know Kareem what to make of this. In your day job you are a personal banker with our crapaud bank. That is advising individuals how best manage their wealth and maximise it, is like helping the money changers in the temple to me. Yet you present yourself as a messenger of God. I have difficulty in rhyming the two. I wish you well but it leaving me with a feeling of unease brother. May God bless you, and I mean that.

What in the World have you said here? In one breath you wishing the young man well, and with the other breath, you are saying that you feel uneasy about him.

And what do the activities of the Temple as per money changers etcetera, have to do with Mr. Kareem’s message to the young people?

Feeding the “money changers” by advising young people to take heed of their future? If the young man was not qualified to speak that message, do you think that he would have been chosen to do so?

Come on now people! Stop with the negativity!

God is positive. He is the creator of positivity . Negativity does not come from God.
Trust, hope and belief are very positive words coming from the promises of Jesus. Remember his words “Ask and you shall receive” etc.
It is not who Mr Kareem Bertrand is. It is the message that Jesus is saying to the youth (to us)through him. Amen.

Oh! Mr. Bertrand, that is a great piece. God’s Holy Spirit moved in me because of its truth.

Only that many of our young people may not know that Jeremiah, the prophet of God, was a young man when God called him to his assignment, he didn’t want to accept that call, because he thought that he was too young.

It is the same with Solomon, he was appointed King of Israel, at young age, he had no idea what he would do as a King.

But when God him told him to ask for what he needed in Life, Solomon did not as for health and riches, he ask God for wisdom and understanding to know how to rule as a King.

God gave him those virtues along with the world of riches. Solomon was a very rich man of his days. When we read his books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, we learn the level of the Power of God that was in him.

When God chose us for His works in Life, young or old this work will be done as He planned it. obedience and humility is what we need.

All Dominicans needs to turn back to God. And pray for their lost souls, all this carnival and ungodly behavouirs needs to stop in the name of Jesus. The young people should stand and be bold in the truth of God words.
