Residents of Vieille Case will soon be able to boast of a new water system as a project to supply the commodity is set to begin in December.
The Vieille Case Water Supply Project will cost some $1.3-million and is expected to be complete in five months and will be commissioned by May 2014, according to a release from the office of the prime minister.
MP for the constituency and Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Roosevelt Skerrit, told a community meeting at the Vieille Case Credit Union Hall on Monday, November 25, that the project complements the many other investments made in the constituency since he became Parliamentary Representative.
He noted that the project will create short term employment for the skilled labourers of the community and urged those who will be employed to work with pride.
Skerrit encouraged residents to take ownership of the project as it will improve their lives.
The new Vieille Case Water Supply project will see the construction of two 30,000 imperial gallon storage tanks and repairs to an existing tank.
Improvements will also be made to the intake and new supply and distribution pipes will be laid. The Government of Dominica is providing the funding for the project.
Other Officials at the community meeting were Reginald Austrie, Minister for Lands, Housing, Settlements and Water Resource Management, Bernard Ettinoffe, General Manager of DOWASCO and Franklyn Sharplis, Chairman of the Vieille Case Village Council (Ag).

Where is Skerrit going to find $1.3million to do this water project? The working poor people of this country can longer be the victims of this destructive bigotry of Roosevelt Skerrit .The Fact is. DOWASCO is broke –Ettinoffe knows that, but continues slavishly to do Skerrit’s dirty work. The VAT and the sale of passports cannot continue to finance every development project on the island and the day is soon coming when the Chinese will make a seismic shift to issues as regards their own national security- mighty China, disgracefully gave only US$100,000 to the victims of the Philippines disaster.
All Skerro doing is promising and not delivering during the election he made that very promise to Grand Fond and Rivier Cyrique yet to be fulfilled Skerro why are u fooling us just for a 2 cents vote
Good to see improvements being made. Concerned about the inconvenience caused by the construction and the short time frame for this construction.
PM please tell us this is not another Chris Walters project. I hope this is not another way of putting money in Chris pocket because this would be disgrace. Be prepared for the water shortage mess everyday.
Good improvement. Don’t forget Grandbay water still runs brown like Roseau water used to be after a little rain. It needs proper filtration badly. When I visited my girlfriend parents there I couldn’t even drink the water without boiling. Is there anyone representing Grandbay on these issues, except that it is a sure vote for some politicians??

i know for a fact the veille case water project will be completed and grand fond own will still be work in progress. i mean for so long this project has started and up to present nothing really has been done. i have been away for the past 5 years now and nothing in dat community? Grand fondnian think twice before putting an x. but the mistake for them to make is send an aircraft to America and they will see how fast i running down to vote Mr Thompson fountaine
