Chinese Ambassador to Dominica, His Excellency Deng Boqing says since the establishment of diplomatic relations with Dominica several years ago, the government of the Peoples’ Republic of China has always been committed to the further development of the country.

Boqing, who was at the time addressing the official ceremony to break ground for the Roseau to Portsmouth Road Rehabilitation Project said China has provided generous support to the island in several areas.

He mentioned the Windsor Park Sports Stadium, the Carib Territory Housing Project, the Dominica State College and the Newtown Primary School,  as areas where the Chinese government has assisted tremendously.

“Being one of the four pillar projects as the token of friendship of the Chinese people, the Roseau Portsmouth Road Rehabilitation Project is one of the largest aid projects implemented by China,” he said.

According to the Ambassador Chinese officials came to Dominica on an annual basis to ensure that the project was high on the agenda.

As long as the Dominican-Chinese relations is based on mutual respect especially for Dominica’s political independence, then one should not be overly concerned. International relations are based on the exhibition of political influence. As an emerging global power China is tasked to maintain its presence on a global scale, though not to off-set the United States’ influence in the region. Foreign aid or assistance has its political and national interest element; China is playing international politics, but one cannot ignore her contributions to Dominica’s development. At least, China remembers Dominica’s severance of diplomatic relations with Taiwan in favor of the One-China policy. Though the Cold War is over, economic rivalry exists among industrial states. China should explore Dominica’s territorial waters for the possible of oil. That would be amazing!

I want to thank the Chinness for contributing so much to Dominica in such a short space of time. Job well done by our elected ministers.

Rest assured China has its own reasons for anything it does for Dominica.

They are a lot things but they are not stupid.

Sadly there are not more Dominicans asking “Why?”

However, many people feel your future as a people is being sold down the river.

Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. International Evangelist.

Are there reporters at those functions? And if there are, are they allowed ot ask questions? If they are allowed to ask questions, can one brave heart reporter who is worth his/her ounce of salt have the testicular or vaginal fortitude to ask the Chinese Ambassador the question of the repressive treatment of the Chinese people by the Chinese government?

The answer, if given, would clarify a lot of unanswered questions many of us have.

God bless the Commonwealth of Dominica.

They need to build a bigger prison to house some of those idiots running the street.

On a more positive note…perhaps a recycling plant, which will assist in solving the trash problem and will make Dominica more eco-friendly and help D/ca have more of a green economy.
