CBI-funded road works for Grand Bay

Seven contracts have been signed for the commencement of road work projects in Grand Bay with a monetary value of over $1-million sourced from the Citizenship By Investment Program.

The contracts were signed on Wednesday.

Parliamentary Representative for Grand Bay, Justina Charles, stated that the government has identified all of the roads that require attention in the area and significant funds have been allocated for them.

“All of these roads, I must say, have been in excess of maybe three or so, almost four million dollars, and that does not include the Mapau Road which is about $2.9 million,” she said.

Charles stated that the best efforts are given in addressing as many roads as possible.

As of now, the roads to be fixed are; the main road and drainage in Tete Morne, the Monteen Road and other secondary roads that bring the cost to a total of $1,003.863.75.

Charles added that this is merely the first phase of a lot more projects to be done in Grand Bay and so encourages the contractors to work diligently in their jobs.

“You as contractors are expected to work diligently and work in a timely manner so that we can now access funds to continue the roads. We cannot ask for funds if we are still lagging behind with what we have,” she said.

She also stated that in the meantime, there will be a walk through along roadsides in Grand Bay to examine edge failures for remedial work on them.

“We will also take the opportunity to go down to look at the lower Lalay where we have had quite a bit of erosion…to see what can be done,” Charles said.

She hopes that all these ventures will be an avenue for job creation for young villagers and contractors.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Grand Bay Village Council, Edward Registe, expressed satisfaction over the government’s promise of converting all dirt roads to concrete roads by the end of 2017.

“That is very important in improving access to people’s homes and improving access to business and really helping o make the community a safer place because presume that drains will be constructed especially in certain areas where mini floods have been taking place, and we are looking forward to the ambience of the community with these roads,” he remarked.

So obvious … that money was not in the Treasury because those projects and that spending were not in the budget. In whose account(s) was that money? Because of the exposing of the CBI/Manafred etc. money start vomiting out. If the Manafred thing did not come out, in whose pocket would that money have gone? And do not tell me that they will give up all. “Whosoever loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver.” Where that money coming from have more. Therefore “cherche la femme” The femme in that case is the money. (No Parl Rep asking where that money that was not in Treasury come out?) All money leave a paper/cyber trail. Sniff that trail like a bloodhound and successfully litigate whoever is at the end of that trail. Your efforts must unearth a person or persons.

About TIME you all fix Montine and Tetemorne roads. I remember going to school and being bumped and rocked to and fro from Montine until we reach Roseau. I can’t believe it took an eternity to finally do something about it. No special thanks form me; it’s been long overdue. We deserve it. 8-O

Time and again, Grand Barians have established emphasis on the importance of building a bridge at Mitchum but Justina and her confederates continue to turn a deaf ear to their request. The fundamental question is, why government has ridiculously chosen to avoid this specific concern? Justina and her cohorts must take ownership of the polarization, the partisan politics, the ordeal and deprivation in Grand Bay. Why Grand Bay continues to remain at the dark side of the moon under Justinaism?

Many of these projects including bridges must be examined by experts to see if the country got value for money.

    • April 7, 2017

They also need to build a bridge in BORDEAUX ( GRAND COULIBRI). That little river swells into a monster when it rains/storms and people get stuck on either side. . It is difficult to cross to the other side, and, often times, we’d have to walk across in order to get home or go to town. My grand parents suffered through these issues; they’ve been long gone, and STILL in 2017 we suffer the same. WHAT ARE JOSTINA and THEM doing? Not enough, obviously. Now she’s talking about fixing roads in 2017? SO LONG?????

Justina dont be so ungrateful.Give thanks to honourable Linton…He forced Skerrit and the cabal (you included) to get our CBI money from wherever it was,and to put it into use…Honourable Linton, another interview is needed urgently.I recommend BBC,Washington Post,CNN,Aljazera…,,,the purpose is to use our CBI money to boost employment and to cure the mendicancy syndrome.
    SKERRIT MUST GO!

Scare-it, I know you are looking for a way out of your debacle. But by your reckless announcements of projects and spending will only but you in more serious troubles. Two wrongs don’t make a right. I feel kinda sorry for you. All thanks to Mr. Linton.

Since these projects and funding were not mentioned in last year budget I have no reason to believe that this money coming from the Treasury! When you say CBI money you not necessarily referring to passport money coming from the Treasury!
Interesting, but I never heard of a tender or bid proposals…… I see contracts handed over party cronies!
In 2010 the road from loubiere to Grand Bay was rehabilitated and resurfaced for 10% of that amount!

Will the cliff at Dubique be broken as well?

Bobol works never truly work in earnesty…… de receiver never get what promised…..De giver crushes his soul with headache and loss of sleep.

    People love money…… Not skerrit!!!!!

Lately there has been a flurry of activity funded by the CBI. No argument from me on spending that money on infrastructure. That is the best use of that money. But it begs the question: why did it take so long before the government decided to spend the money on these projects?

Has the money been sitting in a bank account over the past 10 years? I am curious to know the answer to these questions.
