Gifts of computers, computer desks, printers and office chairs have been given to the Government of Dominica by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.
30 desktop computers, 6 laptop computers, 6 black and white laser printers, 30 sets of computer desks and 30 office chairs were handed over at an official ceremony at the Parliament House on Thursday morning.
Speaker of the House, Alix Boyd-Knights, said the gifts were the result of a promise made by a visiting delegation from the National People’s Congress in July 2012.
“In July last year a delegation from the National’s People Congress headed by a deputy came here and presented us some token gifts in relation with this gift and mentioned that they were going to be sending some office equipment particularly computers, laptops, printers, chairs,” she explained.
Chinese Ambassador to Dominica, Wong Zonglai, stated that the supplies were a token of the friendship between his country and Dominica.
Minister for Information, Technology and Constituency Empowerment, Ambrose George, assured Zonglai that the supplies will be put into good use for the development of the Dominican people.
Chinese people only think. Of themselves ,Realistically they don’t like and mix with Black people, but they surely will use us every time ,why are they going to Africa and the Caribbean? To get what benefits them and give us a token, just like the Europpeans have used us before, this is an opportunity for We as black people to use them and get what benefits all of us in our Country, sure they wouldn’t let 10000 black Dominicans in Shanghi to take some of the best jobs,we just never learn,Alway waiting for the White man or another to do for us what we can do for ourselves,Slave mentality always.
The US department of Defense reports that the pentagon computers gets over 1000 attacks a day from swarms of Chinese hackers. So it would be prudent if this government ensures that no sensitive material are stored on these units. It goes without saying that the Chinese intelligence bureau would install backdoor on these units so that they can be remotely activated when necessary.
people keep asking what is Dominica giving in return when we get gifts from other countries. to understand them, you need to know about them, know about their concerns, know about their ambitions. if you do, you will know that the one-china policy of our government really means a lot to them. and as china emerges as a rising power, they need more friends to promote their international agenda. our support is what they need, and that is what we give in return
look like dominicans can be easily bought
Confucius believed that the responsibility of the rulers was to rule with the country’s best interests in mind rather than to further their own self-interests. If they were not succeeding at this task, then they could and should be replaced. Confucius did not advocate the overthrow of the aristocracy, but he did advocate that the aristocracy, if unwilling to fulfill the role of leader had a mandate to find ministers who would. This was at variance with the prevalent view of leadership, which was based upon bloodline.
mrs speaker you holding on to that laptop well tight,
I just sopkel to an African brother and he asked me why do negatives Dominicans acf so much like Africans…I had no answer for him.
He said maybe they are still on the boat…when they get out they will know how to appreciate the little things in life.
why is he worrying THEY SOLD US – tell him do not forget. He has issues of their own to worry about
DNO can you keep us informed of the fate of those computers! Every single one of them if you can.
Dno lol you think my comment should not be posted. Carry on with your RED self
Do check the laptops just incase there is any spying magnets before use.
My thoughts exactly
How humiliating that in 2013 we cant even buy our own computers. God! It sucks to be Dominican.
you cannot read man is a GIFT, they didnt ask for it, the people freely give it to them and yes no MOU here… LMAO you fool
hope they are bolted down so someone dont try to ‘bwakay’them….
And what is Dominica giving in return ?
Future rights to the country when a government other than the deep pockets take office while our stupidity helps china move forward with their agenda. We see today China sees the future.
Ambrose Geoge is full of it the supplies China gave are not for the development of the D’ican people if so why not give them to the hospital do they have functional computers, printers and desks and why dont you give the Laptops to a School that haven got computer also the Sports division No instead they rather keep them in their offices but wait China will HACK into the computers to get information and by the time they discover it it will be too late gifts from China comes with a price and they are a nation that are facinated with computers.
What about the School for Newtown?
People we need to be grateful for whatever gift we receive from our friends. Every time there is a gift, I see people saying “what about this” n “what about that”. It is not the right way of thinking man..
i agree 100% with u i love my country very much i’m a proud dominican and sometimes it breaks my heart to see how we can be so unreasonable in our thinking.People let us be thankful and appriciative for big and small things.we forget that the comments that we write are being read by all sorts of people everywhere.so lets write things that are of good taste and that will reflect who we are as a people.
be patient. they will do it
Boy, what people will do for a laptop! Now. that is a “kado” from the Chinese and I wonder how we reciprocate, hmmmm.
I am so very lease that we have such good ties with the ROC. A very big thank you for your token of appreciation and well done Dominica.
Please make sure your IT guys are on hand to check for those invisible eavesdroppers those in IT will know what to look for.
BUGGGGGGEDDDD!!!!!!
Whats the big deal, the poor kids of the country are not going to see any of the gifts. The regime wiil be using them.
Of course! Hon. Ambrose George has asserted that”they will be put to good use”. Now, that is a term with a wide interpretation and since these gifts were for tne nation I trust the Minister will disclose exactly were they will end up for this “good use” and not treat it as a state secret, fobbing us off with the now notorious phrase:”it’s none of their damned business”!
I like how china keep giving computers etc remember how Mr. McAfee yes the tech tycoon how he stayed one step ahead of the central american officials – he used the computers he donated to them a few years back to track the police he said it in his interview.
谢谢你们!我希望中国和多米尼克的关系变得越来越好!
all that good
You are too darn lazy. We are supposed to put our butt at work and stop this madness.Even office supplies. Just now it will be rice, sugarback and necks, soap powder, oil, milk etc.I am of the strong belief that the MOU has many things contained in it that we do not know about.
