Close to 200 new jobs created in Dominica through DYBT

Government said it has helped to create more than 180 new jobs in Dominica through the Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT).

It has invested $1.1-million in the program, officially launched in 2004, to help youth develop entrepreneurship skills and establish their businesses.

51 people graduated from the DYBT’s eighth graduation ceremony Wednesday. 348 have graduated from training at the DYBT since its establishment.

Minister for Youth Affairs Justina Charles said the program is meant to address youth unemployment in Dominica.

“Youth unemployment is a global concern. As such, the entrepreneurship program has been identified and proven to be an effective tool to empower our youth and to address this concern among our youth,” she said.

DYBT is an initiative of the Government of Dominica and Commonwealth Youth Programme-Caribbean Centre.

Congratulations John Roach. Some people may not give you your flowers now, but take joy in watching them flourish. Your greatest reward is in the Creator and your very supportive family.

Just to clarify: The 180 jobs relate to DYBT and not all jobs in general.

Having worked with this program in its early stages, I am totally happy to see where it is at present.
The YDD and Mr. Roach have given it much commitment and quality efforts, along with the constant support of the Commonwealth Youth Program and the Government of Dominica.
All those who have contributed to the program over the years must be commended. The mentors, Youth Development Officers, the board of trustees and everyone else whom I cannot quite mention at present.
One cannot forget the very young people who are the direct consumers of the program. Those who took it for what it was and is worth, and improved the quality of life for themself and thier family. These young entreprenuers must be commended. Keep growing, keep rising, keep thriving.
YDD – and Mr. John Roach Thumbs UP.
    God bless DA.

this program is a success.congrats to youth division and the govt for its implementation.
why can a young man like spraggs follow the footsteps like Sam Raphael with WEL and join hands with DyBT to tackle youth employment
He and Rons should stop protesting and instead work with the Skerit Govt to expand the program.Hope all this positive vibes from the youth make headlines on the news paper.let us support these young businesses
