Dominica Brewery and Beverages Ltd donates water for distribution in schools

Dominica Brewery and Beverages Ltd and one of its signature products, Loubiere Water, have joined in the relief efforts following the ravages of Tropical Storm Ophelia to the island’s west coast on Tuesday September 27, 2011.

On Friday September 30, 2011, the company, on its own initiative and in keeping with its community partnership programme, donated 100 cases of Loubiere Spring Water to the Ministry of Education, Sports and Human Resource Development for distribution to schools along the west coast that are without water due to the effects of the storm.  This contribution is valued at $4,070.00.

Hon. Peter St. Jean, Minister for Education, Sports and Human Resource Development received the contribution on behalf of the Ministry and schools, and will be responsible for coordinating with principals of the affected schools for distribution of the water.

The Minister expressed his profound gratitude to the Dominica Brewery & Beverages Ltd. for this considerate and timely donation.  He applauded the company for this initiative and highlighted that this will go a long way in safeguarding the health of school children in the affected areas.

Mr. Lynford Guthrie, General Manager – Distribution, made the presentation on behalf of the company and noted that the company is happy to assist in this difficult situation.

The department for public roads must be complemented for the hard work in restoring the road net work after the flooding incidence. I am truely impressed when i saw heavy equipment at each affected site attempting to restore nomalcy. The Police did a remarkable job in regulating traffic at the Massacre area the evening of flooding. We can truely weather storms as Dominicans!!
