The Grand Fond Constituency will see the undertaking of several Government projects over the next few weeks.
On Wednesday June 24th, Hon. Parliamentary Representative for the Constituency, Ivor Stephenson handed over a $146,120 cheque to the village council for the completion and continuation of 15 projects in the communities of Grand Fond, Riviere Cyrique and Morne Jaune.
One of the major projects to be undertaken is work on the Grand Fond Playing Field. A new cricket pitch and football goal posts will be installed.
Work will also be done on the basketball hard-court.
Washroom facilities for two constituents and work on the Newfoundland and Mineguine feeder roads are also on the list of projects to be undertaken.
Hon. Parliamentary Representative for the Constituency, Ivor Stephenson said, “Today I am very proud to be standing here as the Parliamentary Representative to ensure that the constituency continues to receive funds for the development of the communities.”
Following the handing over ceremony, a town hall meeting commenced to allow for constituents to raise their concerns and discuss plans for the further development of the constituency.
why all the negativity?? i am happy for the people of grand fond. to those who commented about 15 years?? should the people reject the offer because you feel that the money is a bit late?this money wil not only help dlp supporters, but everyone in the area, all should welcome the money and come together to help develop communities. elections have come and gone now we need to build our nation.
now, i would like to make a few more comments about the stakeholders present. in my opinion persons like priests, pastors, teachers and espically principal shoud have attended. personal invites should not have to be given. Such important persons in the communities should make it their duty to attend and contribute to the development of the community.
can you imagine that the principal did not even show up?? it is a fact that she is a strong uwp supporter. but when it comes to community development you put all these aside and come together. both political parties are creating too much…
Its a drop in the basket. But thank you for small mercies, I know more is on its way for our Two lane Rosalie bridge. Patience is virtue!
Communism at it’s best under the cover of democracy .
So because it was done in the past it should continue in the future dumb thinking like that we will never grow as a country.
Change is a must not an option .
Reasons why after fifteen years of neglect, the Salisbury people must not give in to this corrupt regime
You said it. 15 years of neglect. The equation is mutual. Hand come , Hand go. You would have done the same. That’s life brother!
You are simply a block headed idiot, sycophant and minion to a corrupt regime. Did you read the caption of the article? Do you know the meaning of give in.Take it in whichever way you like, but this is why the Salisbury people should not give in to this corrupt regime. BY THE WAY, ARE YOU THE SAME REAL FACTS
@%..Who I am is not your damn business. You are a complicated idiot who believes you know it all. You are glued to your dumb regime why can’t one else be glued to who ever they wish? You are a complicated block headed idiot, sycophant and minion to a DUMB regime.
Like it or not. Salisbury neglected the present government for 15 years; Why can’t the Government neglect them for 15 years too? Bro, Do unto others as you have them Do unto you. Like I said if you were in the Government position you would have done the same, your damn psychopath.
“Alas”, you’re taking it to literal, its basically the same principal. A criminal makes demands and you grant it, what stops him/her or other criminals to make more demands. You cannot break the law to ask the government of the day for improved feeder roads, there are other avenues. If the government were to bow, what would be next “pay my child school fee or ill burn the school” and the list would probably go on and on.
Democracy is for all, while you might say you’re expressing your right of association/expression etc what about my right of free movement, what about all the other peoples rights that was infringed upon because of the protest. Democracy cannot be one sided.
Yes you all bought the people so patback is due, dirty labour party.
Many DLP supporters are always asking the question, why should the people of Salisbury protest for developments in their constituency when all constituencies have to go though the same problems of getting financial assistance. The above report says it all. For approximately fifteen years , the people of Salisbury have been begging for assistance to repair their farm roads. The Government would not listen, protest actions were taken, instead of financial assistance like Grand Fond, they received, expired tear gas, live bullets, rubber bullets and arrest. Grand Fond, a DLP constituency did not have to protest. Maybe, the DLP Government is sending a strong message, the more you protest, the less financial assistance you will receive.
I think the message is simple, “don’t negotiate with terrorist”.
Don’t encourage stupidity and negative aggression.
What does terrorist have to do with speaking out for government access
