Housing projects for Bath Estate

Two major housing projects for Bath Estate  are expected to get underway before the end of the year, according to Roseau South parliamentarian Ambrose George, the information minister.

He says the coming projects, which fall under the government’s wider Housing Revolution Programme, are in keeping with the governing Dominica Labour Party’s thrust to provide adequate, suitable, equitable housing.

“You may have heard of the two areas which have been selected for the new housing apartments which will be built commencing sometime this year. One is at the old site of the Survey’s department and the other one is the playing field in Elmshall located close to the river,” the MP said.

He said the proposed new housing projects for Bath Estate are part of ongoing initiatives to improve the housing conditions of the poor and underprivileged in rural communities across the island.

“The designs are very advanced and very soon before year end we will see the commencement of the construction of those apartment buildings,” George said.

“I know there are several young people in particular from the Bath Estate and adjoining areas that will benefit from those new apartment buildings.

The two housing projects will be constructed on Government owned lands.

The Roseau South MP didn’t say how much the projects will cost.

what they suggest again? Bath estate and Elmshall? The playing field in Elmshall is not a good place at all to put up houses, why? next to the river, the river banks always overflowing and there is very much a waterlog place. Why they dont suggest the place at the end of Elmshall where all the hatians putting of shacks almost every day?

Armbrose George ! this is a big mistake. The Charlotte Valley in the Newtown area, have been purchased by the previous govt. for housing. Instead of building there you are going to build in bath estate which is congested with about 4 existing housing projects situated there.

Newtown is in dire need of expansion, so do the moral thing and start developing the land for sale as lots and for housing projects also.

It’s great to hear that affordable housing is a priority for helping those in need. But the idea of building housing projects is a failure. Even the U.S. No longer builds housing projects as they just become breeding grounds for gangs, crime and violence. Dominica you do NOT need housing projects to help those that need affordable housing. It will be a complete disgrace to your country and the people forced to live there will suffer for it.

Alas, there are some old houses in roseau. I mean its a total disgrace. I think the housing revolution should look to replace those people and upgrade the area. I mean all you have to do is look down from any tall building in town and you will see the dilapidated houses. It’s a crying shame. It’s really bad. Real bad.

Tear them down to do what? a man’s home is his catle. Even the “old building” upon which you look down have thier place in making Roseau what it is. You all believe in tearing down too much in that country!

I do hope that some of the silver lake residents will be part of those who will get a home and not who the party choses. Are there any urban planners involved in this project?? I have issue with building along waterways, and see we claim to be a nature island, special consideration should be given to protecting waterways.

Ah yes! It is heartening to see one of you admit that the DLP administration is honouring its contract with the Dominican people. A government that works for all. :)

Peeping Tom ..”one of YOU..”? I tired tell you I not you that supporting your BOY just like that you know because you can get free vep and VIP seat in stadium you know. and the person waiting for the thing sakway twete! :-P

If they doing I will say they doing. However governments are elected to work for and with the nationals, not to be given a pat on the back for the simplest gesture towards doing the deed. When the project is on stream Yours Truly will give flowers, until then it’s just a verbal step in the right direction and for that even I can be happy.
