The Hon. Parliamentary Representative for the Mahaut Constituency, Rayburn Blackmoore, continues to take action to improve the lives of his constituents.
On Thursday June 18th, Hon. Blackmoore presented outboard motors to Mark Marcellin and Leon Alexander at a ceremony at the Mahaut Market.
“A number of young people have spoken to me saying that they need boats or motors. I believe that you have to help people to contribute towards mainstream society,” the Minister shared.
The outboard motors cost over $8,000 and recipients are expected to make a monthly contribution to the St. Paul’s Fisherfolk Cooperative for the next two years.
Hon. Blackmoore also presented a cheque of over $4,200 to the Mahaut Fisheries Cooperative for the purchase of a fish aggregation device or FAD.
“I want to work with St. Paul Fisherfolk Cooperative to create a revolving fund. They will identify persons within the fishing community who can be assisted,” he said.
At Thursday’s ceremony the Hon. Mahaut MP also handed over the keys to a new three bedroom house to Ruby Alexander.
“We continue to identify persons in the constituency to help them. One such person we have identified is Ruby. She sometimes experiences some medical problems,” he said.
“Thank you for providing a home for my children and I,” Alexander said.
The Mahaut MP also presented $65,000 towards the rehabilitation of the Morne Gorgin to Campbell Link Road and the continuation of road works in Siboulie.
Blackmoore presented a cheque of $14,000 to the Mahaut senior citizens home and certificates of appreciation were presented to members of the Mahaut Labour Youth Organisation.
i think it’s unfair that most of the positive remarks are being filtered and all the negative remarks remain
give the public a chance to view things from both angle
Ms. Ruby Alexander from the village of WARNER received keys to a 3 bedroom house for she and her 5 boys; the CAMPBELL village council also received a cheque in the amount 414000 for construction of a community road
So the minister as far as i can see is doing his extreme best to adhere to the needs and wants of different areas or villages within his constituency
sorry cheque of $14000 to the CAMPBELL village council
Thanks for more info. So I see, it’s a gov’t program. But alas, by the same token they an at least fix Lindo Park and cut the partisan crap then?
Sorry Pal, I supported all-you but perception is EVERYTHING. As good as this sounds it is a serious thing that doesn’t deserve arrogance. Just say it’s part of a gov’t program, or it came from your pocket, at least lie as politicians are known to do. We know the difference. It smells of arrogance!
when they give you all have negative remarks…when they dont give and do allu still have more to sya……no one can ever ever satisfy u/me=dominicans…awa wee
everything blackmoore does is political. so dont come and say that its for the ppl.
stop giving everything to labourite and share the wealth.
when is this going to stop? i know ppl that are in need of boats, nets and motors to do fishing and just a runaround with the matter.
stop stop the laborite right
The source of the funds should be declared in the name of transparency and accountability.
How can a Parliamentary Representative dish out that amount of money without stating where it came from.
Is it his own money? Did it come from the treasury? Did it come from the P.M? or Malaysia? or passports? On a small legitimate salary, it is impossible to dish out that amount. So Blackmore, out of respect for the people, should state the source of the funds, because I can safely state that it is not his own money.
Basic decency would dictate that. If he was quoting an excerpt from someone’s work he would have to cite the author. So how can he dish out to the public and give them the impression that it is his own. Otherwise the Integrity Commission or the FIU should investigate.
I take no objection to the act of goodwill but for God’s sake, can anything be done properly in this country?
harry mack on second thought, the more your comment sank in ,the more I found it distastefull, does it really matter where the funding came from, the bottom line here, is that it is being given to the public, not government officials, you all are so cut up in you all political ignorance of corruption as poisoned by the opposition, that you all don’t seem to see beyond you all noses,i do not see the opposition as a whole putting though any initiatives on a wide scale, they said they had jobs line up for the young people during the election campains, why are they not putting them forward,is it because the general public did not vote for them,do they have to get something in return,in other for them to help the young people, dont you think that if they do help the young people now,by the time the next election cycle come around, the people will consider, what they have done, and vote them in?
That is what you should be doing instead of having the police harass Salisbury people.
Kudos to you Mr. Blackmoore! What is Collin McIntrye doing for the valley? Mr Mac we are not hearing from you. Repping TR massive Check us in TR…we calling on you to check us irie
go and work for what you want. allu like to much freeness
Who’s asking for freeness? Im from the valley and I agree. Colin is doing nothing for the valley. He is just disrespecting people. Not even a meeting with his constituency. It’s very disappointing so see how he treats people. Shame on you Mr.McIntyre.
Freeness?? Asking for community development? Asking of representation. The valley is afloat through no fault of Colin. We work hard and do not depend on the Government for bread. However the PalRep has a mandate and he needs to fulfil that mandate. Nobody is asking for freeness.
Take what allu get allu that put him there.
See and Hear how this sounds;the pm would say by the look, that person is not a farmer. Can you say this recipient in photo is not a fisher folk?
Well read continous mention of Blackmoore gave … ,are you indicatin that is his money based on his salary? So much is seen and heard of a people. If the parlimentary representative ,like is stated why not recognize and appreciate The Youth? Instead at a session like this gave certificates to labor youth, this is Truly Divide to rule. A recipe for hatred, strife, jealousy etc.
Well then the headline is reflecting the article, and Blackmoore continue to take action to help ‘his constituents ‘.
Dno Let Us Be Part Of A People and Share,so the critical thinking of People Will Be Sharpened And Will Be Careful To Appreciate Reading. Why try to choke facts or try to hide TRUTH?
wow….really….where are these funds coming from? What parliamentary approved program is it?
How/when were the funds appropriated? What agency is responsible for its dispensation?
what is the criteria for award?
Or perhaps we could just cynically ask, where does a Dominican MP, on the most modest of salaries, come up with that kind of cash?
very good gesture and I applaud the Parl. Rep. for that, but on the other hand when tax payers monies are used for these fishing equipment which the recipient has no loan or heavy obligations the price of fish should be discounted even is at 50 cents on a pound. We must understand that the working population pay direct taxation and when the taxes deducted are used in situations like that they too should enjoy some of the benefits.
All in All Very Good Donations I believe especially Ruby they are well deserved.
You obviously cannot read. You didn’t see the part where they have to pay monthly for the next 2 years for it. Dumb people like you that spreading nonsense and have other fools like you getting on
mahaut is not the only constituency you need to look at smh
I agree. There isnt nothing going on in warner or campbell or tarrau.
Everything is mahaut mahaut.
Good job Mr MP
Blackmoore i dont support the regime, but i havt to gige you kudos, always looking out for you constituent, but the st joe rep gives nothing back.
The St joe rep is not part of the inner circle so doesn’t have the funds to dish out
but the St. joe people still vote him.
