New Presidents Leo Stacie Raphael (r) and Lion Diana Angol (l) taking their oath of office

A new executive was installed to run the affairs of the Dominica Lions and Leo Clubs for the 2011/2012 Lionistic year which runs from July 1 to June 30, 2012

At a ceremony at the La Flamboyant Hotel on Saturday June 25, 2011, presided over by the Region 2 Chairperson , Lion Marvin Grant, MJF of the Tortola Lions Club, the New Executive was installed under the leadership of Lion Diana Angol and Leo Stacie Raphael.

Lions, Leos and guests present heard addresses from the outgoing Presidents Lion Louisiana Dubique and Leo Junior Toussaint, incoming Presidents Lions Diana Angol and Leo Stacie Raphael, Hon Ambrose George, Minister for Telecommunications, and Constituency Empowerment, with the feature address being delivered by Lion Marvin Grant, MJF.

In his remarks, Hon. Ambrose George reminded all of what Lionism stood for and its impact to the various communities where service is provided through the resources which are made available to the needy and also in assisting Lions to carry out their mandated tasks.

Newly installed President of the Lions Club Diana Angol requested that all be open to difference and criticism and promised to work within the guidelines of Lions International with every intention of thrusting the Club forward through continuity of projects which have had desired successful outcomes.

Lion Marvin reminded Lions and Leos of their commitment asking them to keep in mind that the club is a reflection of the community it serves; that the Lions emblem signifies ‘Leadership & humanitarian service’ and that as Lions they are expected to share of their Time, Talent & Resources in service to the community being served.

In the end Lions and Leos must ask themselves whether the club has met or fulfilled its expectations and whether members as individuals have fulfilled their sworn obligation to the club.

Lion Marvin armed them with important tools to serving which include
i)    Club Growth: vital, because new members usually mean new ideas and approaches which are necessary for the survival of your club.
ii)    Team Work: as individually the task is usually harder
iii)    Promotion or Marketing of the Club: in order to attract more sponsors, members and working partnerships.
iv)    Recognition of members, sponsors and partners, as this serves to motivate more.

Finally, he exhorted them to cultivate the attitudes of perseverance and commitment in order to achieve their fullest as without these it would be impossible to move ahead.

The Dominica Lions Club was founded in 1968 and is part of the International Association of Lions Clubs, the world’s largest service club organization with nearly 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas around the world.

Congratulations to the newly appointed, most especially Diana Angol on your installation. I am confident that you will perform your responsibilities exceptionally.

PS. DNO please correct your photo caption – ANGOL and not AGOL. Thank you.
