PM Skerrit contemplates upcoming budget

Skerrit. *Photo credit: Sean Douglas

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says a number of factors are being considered for the 2010/2011 annual budget.

He told Kairi’s Heng programme that a ten million dollar facility at the AID Bank for housing will be one of the pillars of this year’s budget.

“We have to look at the issues of tourism promotion, our social welfare programmes to ensure that we can sustain them, growing the economy and all that. One of the pillars will be a ten million dollar facility at the Aid Bank for housing at a 5% interest,” he said

According to PM Skerrit, government has recognized that families in Dominica are challenged.

“We know that there are families who want to build a home but are committed elsewhere. We are trying to see at what extent we can assist middle income earners to access a mortgage to build their homes,” he said.

He said government wants to ensure that it does not compete with the other financial institutions.

Meantime Prime Minister Skerrit says the issue with salary negotiations with the Dominica Public Service Union is still in limbo.

““We have an issue with regards to the union because they have made a particular request and the government has agreed to a number of their request. But we said to them that it’s difficult for us at this time to go beyond a 3% because it will create a certain problem for us,” he added.

Skerrit said while government wants to be adventurous in the budget, we have to be tempered and conservative.

July 13th has been set for the budget presentation but that date has not been confirmed.

Time to fix the sidewalks in Roseau if you really want to promote tourism. Make Roseau a walking city.
As for salary increases, you should consider yourselves lucky if you can get a 3% raise. In the states they are cutting govt. workers salaries by 5% plus mandating time off with no pay.
Time to cap or reduce salaries of the people at the top also.

Rick Ross I just read Mr.Telemacque comments and no where he has mentioned the UWP party his comments are very open ended and refered to the bible and his knowledge of scripture also to a person who made a comment about the budget so my question to you why would you come to the conclusion that he was refering the someone in the UWP without mentioning a name, so who have their head in the sand and are trying to tell us educatated individuals that all the negative comments posted are those of only the UWP how stupid can you be the DLP party supports questions just like any other and I will tell you that their are things they do not support and afraid to speak out so the use the internet for that. Rick stop being so ridiculoue and think before you speak.

  6. A WARNING

    June 11, 2010 • 10:04 pm
The day is coming, the ax will fall. All that is in the dark will come to light. Dominicans, don’t be lazy to think for yourselves! Don’t be fooled by smooth-talking politicians. Stand for what is right or we will pay a heavy price.
    —————————————————————————————————————————————–
Here we have the Prime Minister of a country made certain comments about the presentations of the nations budget, no one knows what the total budget entails; except where he mentioned ten million dollars for I suppose the housing programme.

It is shocking to read all the stupid responses including the one from this fictitious individual with his/her warring.

There are people who may appear normal, however, in reality should be in a mental asylum. The most mentally ill people are the ones who babble the most about God, and vengeance, and all sort of garbage, if you ask them to present one word of scripture to support, or substantiate their argument, you will find that they become dumbfounded.

When someone comes preaching to me, whatever they present to me must be based on thus said the Lord.

It must be something based on some Biblical Scripture, and not the words of an mentally ill person.

While what this so called ” Warring ” wrote may attract a few unsuspecting simple because they are talking about what God will bring on Dominica, nonetheless, all that person wrote to me is a bunch of baloney, God did not give the person such an message!

In conclusion, if you believe that God gave you a message to give to Skerrit, how come you could not use your name, so that we can recognize you as a profit, disciple, or a messenger of God!

For your information, The Great God Jehovah, and his Son Jesus Christ, plays no part in Politics, and if you wish me to prove that with scriptures, I can accommodate you!

If you are playing politics, come out and make your political views know, wait until the budget is presented, and if you have certain objections or dissatisfaction with anything in the budget, voice your opinions on it, but what you have presented here at this time is not necessary.

Obviously, some of us can only see on the surface. We are too blinded to see beyond the tip of our noses.

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds. A Warning is right, those who live in Dominica are the ones feeling the heat, not those who live outside of Dominica and get paid to come down to vote.

If you want to know what public servants are going through come down and take a taste Mr Telemaque! Otherwise when the s… t hits the fan you would be a far away.

When people must not disagree with the PM when he is doing wrong this is a sad state of affairs. Don’t do the long distance analysis, I beg you come to Dominica and experience it..

        • ” Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds. A Warning is right, ”

Oh dear, I feel so very sorry for you!

For your information, I freed myself from mental slavery a very long time ago, that is why I worked all day, and attended Collage, and University, at night, and the classes that were offered only in the day, when I needed them in order to graduate, I arranged with my employer for me to work at night, and attend school in the daytime.

I worked, and paid my way through Collage, and University.

So, I graduated from a legitimate University, and not a Reggae, university; Bob Marley was not my professor!

Reggae was not my Major, I majored in Electronic/ Electrical Engineering, and also Health Science.

The only Jamaican who taught me in collage was my Sociology class professor, and my Physics professor was also a West Indian out of Guyana.

So, now that you know my background we can move on to the subject at hand.

Whereas you may feel that this Warring is correct, the persons comment is out of place, and time; suppose that person tried to contribute to the budget by suggesting the Prime Minister Include something whatever, and perhaps state why they would like a few pence, included in the budget for that purpose, I would not have wasted my time responding to that person, nor you.

There is a time for politicking, and there is also a time to contribute, but the foolishness that you read following the Prime Minister’s comments are absolutely un-called for.

The elections are long over, here you are talking about people who they brought to Dominica to vote. What purpose is that complaint serving at this moment, how is a reminder that people residing in the United States, and Europe returned to Dominica and vote in 2009, is going to contribute to the budget of 2010/11

There is a person who continues to do a one sentence post, which reads ” build an international airport in Wesley, ” or something to that effect, I appreciate that one line comment more than all the other garbage I read.

Why, because we all as Dominicans including the Prime Minister may have recognized by now the essentials of an International Airport in the Country.

That one line makes more sense than all Warning had to say.

What happened last year, is old news, if you would like that to change that part of the equation that’s your purgative to challenge it at another time and place, however we should focus our attention on the matter at hand, and that is ” the budget.”

And to be arguing about an issue when we do not know about it in its entirety to me is utterly ridiculous!

DA is in dire straights currently and it’s us those a little more previlaged( on island or in the diaspora) to come forward and take our country back.
My statements here are mines but you will admit that many D/cans feel the same but as a result of hypocrisy, wespaimen opportunism call it what you want/will the country is ……..and drastic action has to be taken if we are to save it.
Frst things first: we haave to accept tyhere’s no room for second guessing what is required of us.
We have to protect our soverinity. The crayfish who came out from under the stone in VC must go either to Chater’s Place for crimes against state or follow is ilk Baby Doc and go to G/oupe or france. preferably the former. Chavez the rouge stay out of DA. We will deal with sr.Counsel Alix nanton etc. Maynard etc etc the enablers. This haitian sanctury must end passport cancelled and replaced with new ones that can only be obtained by means soon to be designed. Eddie green and these loosers must go too. Opportunistic educated/studiated must be made to take responsibility for their failure to the state. Then we can begin to reorganize the state. Witlshire etc have to repent if they want to returnto be part of a gov’t of liberation. My movement will be like the Tea parties .Only for DA it will be the coaco tea party.

    June 12, 2010

Dear editor how to become a dictator?
1st, Make sure you have a primary citizenship as escape route where you will be protected from prosecution. Just as baby doc of haiti. 1. Destroy every independent non government form of revenue.fool the population that its others doing it to them.
    2. Make civil servants take salary cut.and keep everyone in an acting post So they can’t pay their loans and fear speaking out
3 prostetute the nations votes in UN, IWC, CITES, CARICOM etc. to get aid in exchange for hidden agreements (alba, one china, lybia, whaling, fisheries, Cuba, atomic energy,…)
    4. UnderStudy the dictators 5.introduce prostetition to nation of who look up to “Good hair and high color” so that having a spanish becomes a status symbol and that every woman will want to wear a wig and clothes 3 sizes too small to become one of the ” the Sexy Girls”
    6. Facilitate entry and passage of drug trade so the role models can be bling boys who make the use of coke a status symbol.
    7. Introduce VAT to enable the taxation of prostetition and drugs.
    8. facilitate human traficking, sale of passports to the notoriuos to blacklist the inocent. 9. Destroy the national security by illegally appointing a police commissioner, and promoting selected officers.10. Interfere with justice stop the coast guard from prosecuting arrested french fishers caught illegally fishing. Release foruegners found with large sums of $
    11.
Destroy food security security by introducing agriculture and wildlife diseases. By preventing. Customs from enforcing quarantine laws, importing contianers of plants for your home without going through quarantine .
POlitical interferance in parot import permits. Allowing army and heavy equipment covered in infected soil to enter without customs being able to enforce the agriculture protection laws. 12. Prevent stimulation of local économy by stopping tendering process.to be able to give multimillion dollar deals to selected non nationals so the money is not easily traced as it will not stay in the national economy or banks.
    13. Defy the constitution “not even the constitution can stop”
    14. Endanger the fishermen and citizens by supporting the territorial claims of a nation that is a Non signitory to the laws of the seas. Thereby intrudicing nuclear arms tensions in the once peaceful caribbean sea. 15
Placing military fuel storage in the middle of two high scale residential areas so the likeleyhood of a missile strike will be less.
16.interfere with the electoral process by Prevent intrudiction of if cards. Holding elections on Fridays, swearing in on a holiday. To prevent court injunctions and investigating imported voters. Register as many haitians as possible in byelection
Constituency 17 Appoint a record number of ministers so that as many persons can be implicated in wrongdoing.
Take over a popular party then through out its founders.

Dominica needs National Deliverance because we are in DARKNESS. Dominicans: Remember your CREATOR.
This country is heading quickly down a slippery slope!
If we do not stop making a god out of our politicians who are doing wrong, we are going to reap what we sow.

Dominicans, open your eyes, think for yourself, do not let material gains make you forget the laws and principles of the Lord God!

I see much darkness and danger for Dominica if we do not get back on the right path. Dominica is becoming a lawless state. PM Skerrit said, ” …… no law, no constitution can stop me from being nominated ………….” A flagrant disregard for the laws of the land.

Wisdom 5 : 23 says”……Lawlessness will be the ruin of the whole world. Evil actions will cause governments to fall.” I would advise PM Skerrit, to read Wisdom 6 – The Responsibility of Rulers. Hurry up and correct the wrong decisions or ” …..suffer sudden and terrible punishment…” Wisdom 6: 5.
You (PM) are being seduced by the enemy who is walking with you daily. You speak of God, but do not do according to God’s will. I pray that you will see the light sooner rather than later. PM SKERRIT, LABOUR PARTY GOVERNMENT, LABOURITES AND DOMINICANS BE WARNED!!
