Water upgrade, housing assistance approved for Penville and Vielle Case

dno newsA new basketball hardcourt for the village of Penville and improved housing for 30 residents are just two of several projects earmarked for that community to come on stream following the passage of the 2013-2014 Budget.

Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Roosevelt Skerrit, who will present the 2013-2014 budget on July 24, 2013, made the disclosure at a recent town Hall meeting held in Penville.

“On the issue of the basketball court, that project will begin in the first week of August of this year, once the contract has been signed. The project will be constructed adjacent to the playing field. In the month of August also, we will be assisting an additional thirty people in Penville with housing assistance. This is outside of what we will be doing in Vieille Case and Thibaud,” PM Skerrit disclosed.

The Prime Minister also announced that EC$1.3 million dollars have been approved by the Cabinet of Dominica for improvement work to be done on the Vieille Case water supply system.

“On the advice of the Minister for Water Resource Management, I just approved $1.3 million to improve the Vieille Case water system. We have some challenges in Vieille Case and that project is expected to begin in the next two weeks, once the budget has been passed,” he said.

Meantime the Prime Minister said work on the Penville water supply continues with new pipes to be installed soon on sections of the Penville road. The new pipes were cleared at the port last week.

    Hi Skerro,
You have been a pupil of mine during your early years.
You once agreed on a topic we had about being king! That was your visions to be and what you would do in return. You actually committed to doing some thing positive and supportive and we all applause.
Please don’t embark on those promises after the election. Do put the monies where your mouth is and fulfill those commitments as agreed.

I am from Penville and live both Veillecase an Penville growing up, always water problem for both villages. We had to collect water early in the morning, by the end of the day, we had to go to the river for shower. I hope your project saves us well.

I like all the projects u talking about but let people who are skilled do the job than just giving people money to do nonsense. by the way I need a job. no job no vote

For thirteen years,Skerrit and the Labor Party Government has never shown any significant interest in the constituencies of Penville and Vielle Case. Elections are drawing close, therefore, the man has decided to take no chances with his re election especially in the Constiuencies of Penville and Tibow. Expect gifts to fall like manner from heaven.

PM i am from Amba and your water comment tells me alot about the way politics works in Dominica. You have spend millions of dollars on the Amba/Penville water project and since that was done it’s been nothing but a headache. We go weeks with no water and we keep hearing excuses. I see your job as PM it to make Chris rich and we suffer. I voted for you because i thought u were different from the rest. Come to Amba and try to take a shower about 11am on any day.
