British High Commissioner to experience work of Roving Care Programme

The Roving Caregivers’ Programme (RCP) is pleased to advise of a visit by the British High Commissioner to the Eastern Caribbean, His Excellency Mr. Paul Brummell on March 14, 2011 at 9 a.m. to the Carib Territory as part of his official visit to Dominica.

Through this visit His Excellency Paul Brummell accompanied by Second secretary Mr. Daniel Carruphers, will experience firsthand:
•    The functions carried out by the RCP on the field by observing stimulation exercises and parents’ involvement in the development of their children through learning and play.
•    Meeting with families and their children in a centre based setting and learn about the impact of the programme on their lives.

Such a visit to the RCP comes at a time of continued growth, recognition and support of RCP by Regional and International Organizations as the RCP continues to work relentlessly in providing parents and their children birth to three years old with the stimulation they need to enhance their development.

On this visit, the British High Commissioner is expected to be accompanied by some government officials as well as Mr. Clive Murray, Programme Officer, Youth and Community Advocacy and Communications at Caribbean Child Support Initiative (CCSI), parent company of the Roving Caregivers’ Programme.

This visit comes at an opportune time as the RCP, which has been in existence for seven years, is currently in its expansion phase as it seeks to reach more families and children in Dominica and continue the work of Early Childhood Development (ECD). As part of the first phase of this expansion the RCP will soon be operational in the communities of Marigot and Grand Fond.

RCP looks forward to continuing its work and gaining more support and recognition for the programme and the importance of ECD in Dominica by working very closely with all stakeholders including the Government of Dominica, ChildFund Caribbean local office, Village Councils, Health Districts and the media among others, to realize its success.

Well done Roving Care givers Program, your effort is a genuine one unlike the one which was set up prior to 2009, the Yes We Care program, which was used for political posturing. I wish you the best with your concerns and care for the under-previlged and elderly may god bless all involved and the program too
