Second form students of the Convent High School (CHS) will benefit from a donation of over 100 chairs by the CHS Alumnae Association of Ontario Canada.
The chairs were handed over to the school on Tuesday morning by members of the association who called on the students to take care of them.
Deputy Principal of the Convent High School, Isabella Prentice, encouraged the students to treat the chairs with extreme care. “We have to learn to be grateful and show our appreciation by caring for the gift. The members of the Alumnae Association have toiled tirelessly and continue to toil in order to provide for us,” she said.
Member of the alumnae Association, Lorarine Dorival, said the Association is fulfilling its commitment to equip the CHS with 400 chairs, however they are sending 100 at a time.
“Throughout the years we have been working on projects directed at the social, intellectual and spiritual needs of present and future alumnae of CHS,” she noted.
Meanwhile businessman, Malcom Stephens, has donated $1,000 to the school’s upcoming graduation ceremony. Stephens and his business were instrumental in financing the donation of chairs and decided to go a step further with the financial contribution.
The CHS Alumnae Association of Ontario Canada has been in existence for the past four years. It consists of past students of the Convent High School and the Convent Preparatory School.
