Dominica’s youth has been asked to cope with the challenges being faced among them.
That request is coming from Parliamentary Representative for Portsmouth Ian Douglas.
Douglas who substituted for Youth Minister Justina Charles at the World Youth Day rally in Salisbury on Saturday said many of the countries youth are facing challenging times.
“I know many of you are going through rough and hard times. I know you are struggling and living through some challenging times. In addition to your own personal challenges you also have to cope with the social, economic, political, religious situations which confront you daily. I know this time can be very hard but do not be afraid,” he said.
In the Catholic Church, Palm Sunday is usually designated as World Youth Day by the Pope but this year it was celebrated on Saturday April 16th in the Parish of St Theresa which includes Coulibistrie, Morne Rachette and Salisbury under the theme, “Planted and Built up in Jesus Christ, Firm in the Faith.”
A panel discussion on the safe keeping of the youth today and mass celebrated by Bishop Gabriel Malzaire also formed part of World Youth Day celebrations.
Youths follow him give your soul to this man.
Do not be afraid youths. The Supreme Skerro will guide and take care of his children.
2 me the youth rally was on saturday not sunday. ebehh weh dno
Re-read, it says saturday
it said sunday. they recently changed it to saturday!!!
DNO, don’t you have any pictures from the rally. This was an amazing event. I listened to it on Kairi, it was wonderful to hear how out spoken the young people were. They were even challenging the church on contraceptives. I hear there was well over 1000 young people there. Fr. Karam did an excellent job answering some very difficult questions.
Well done Catholic Youth
yeah he did and it had a good dissucion and i chwecking the same thing diominica news online couldnt put sonme pictures and more discription of the youth rally the article not all that
Mr Douglas, are you listening to yourself?
Telling the youth that he knows that they are struggling and things are hard and rough, economically, politically etc.
what ever happened to LET CHILDREN BE CHILDREN
All these struggling and tough rough times should not be the daily experiences of our children. The families and government must cushion the effects, so that our children can concentrate on being children.
I do not like your statement, however it is true, which simple means, WE ARE FAILING OUR CHILDREN.
So tell me where things are not hard right now with this economic downturn which the entire world is facing?
To Moi,
Our Circumstances make us Stronger. There is nothing wrong with the Minister encouraging the Youth…Today a young lady told me she wish that she could pass on her monthly aches and pains to someone..”I can’t deal with that she said”. I asked her, “do you know how many women are on their knees right now asking God for your problem?” “Please God give me one egg so I can reproduce.” She said, “Wow, I never thought of it like that.” Point is there is nothing wrong in the Minister encouraging the Youth to look for the Silver Linning in the Dark Cloud….
