Dominica benefits from Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Christmas Gift programme for underprivileged children

This year marked the 12th anniversary of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Holiday Gift project for underprivileged children.  The FCCA annually provides holiday gifts to more than 4,500 underprivileged children in 20 countries including Dominica.

On Sunday, December 12, 2010, representatives of MV Emerald Princess (Princess Cruises) along with the Ministry of Tourism, ChildFund Caribbean and the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) formed part of a gift-presentation ceremony held at the Krazy Koconuts, Castle Comfort.

Two hundred children from around the island, including Marigot, Mahaut, Portsmouth, Castle Bruce, La Plaine and Roseau, were presented with gifts at the said ceremony.

The Discover Dominica Authority wishes to express sincere thanks to Archipelago Trading Ltd., Starrin and Sons, Hara Agencies, H.H.V Whitchurch, Springfield Trading, Guiyave Restaurant, Dawn Symes, Fine Foods, the Dominica Taxi Association, and Krazy Kokonuts for their generous contribution and support to the said event.

In the event that Dominica is selected next year by FCCA for the Holiday Gift Programme, the Discover Dominica Authority anticipates their contribution and support in making the event a success.

I am very happy to see that the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Christmas gift programme started in the mid 90’s in continuing to benefit Dominica’s underprivileged children. I am sure that the person who recommended using the Christian Children Fund (CCF) now ChildFund Caribbean to distribute those gifts to Dominica’s underprivileged children must be very proud of having made that suggestion…those were the days.
