DSC Mas Jamboree 2013 Press Release

Dominica is blessed with such a rich and diverse culture, which can only be kept alive through the talents and efforts of the people. The Dominica State College recognizes how important it is to embrace that culture by encouraging as well as showcasing the dynamic and creative abilities of its students. Hence, the DSC 4th annual Mas Jamboree carded for Thursday February 7th, at Krazy Koconuts is expected as always to do just that.

Mas Jamboree is a mini carnival slide show that encompasses several features of our national carnival. There is the highly anticipated Miss DSC Mas Jamboree Pageant, featuring 7 lovely intelligent young ladies competing in four rounds for the title of Queen of DSC. The girls come from a variety of academic disciplines, ranging from majors in Computer Science, Languages, Nursing, Psychology and so forth.

The Contestants for the Miss DSC Mas Jamboree are: Miss Jesse Cognet, Miss Roanda Trotman, Miss Clevette Felix, Miss Colette Ambo, Miss Sabina James, Miss Odessa Elie and Miss Johanna Faustin. The young ladies will compete in four areas: talent; thematic wear; evening wear; and answer and questions;

DSC can boast that the pageant, which intends to serve as a spring board for the National Queen Show, has been accomplishing this goal. Two years ago, Ms DSC 2010, Miss Joseph copped Miss Intelligence and Best Talent Ameka Cognet the current 1st Runner Up, 2012 was a former Mas Jamboree contestant while Ms DSC 2011 Ms Daina Matthew is running for the 2013 National Title.

Besides the pageant aspect of the show, calypsonians will also take to the stage. The line-up of calypsonians will include Jamal Black Diamond Lloyd, an economics major. Patrons can also expect entertainment shorts such as Modeling. The event will climax with a band splash. Signal Band, Kross Vybez and Triple K Global are slated to bring events to an exciting close.
