Education Trust Fund gets $5,000 donation

Stacy Raphael of Malcolm Stevens and Sons presents the check to Education Minister Peter St. Jean

Corporate citizen Malcolm Stevens and Sons on Monday made an EC$5,000.00 donation to the Education Trust Fund.

The $5,000.00 donation was presented to Education Minister Peter St Jean by one of the firm’s employees, Stacy Raphael.

Minister St Jean responded that such assistance allows the fund to meet its goal of providing help to needy students, while Trust Fund Chairman Willie Fevrier said the Malcolm Stevens and Sons donation was indicative of the tangible support the private sector has been providing to the Fund.

The facility helps students by providing them with school books, transportation, exam fees and other related assistance.

The Education Trust Fund recently received pledges of EC$15,000.00 from its annually-held radiothon – Fevrier says the Fund is in the process of collecting those funds.

The Education Trust Fund receives an annual allocation from the government.

Fevrier could only say that it’s usually substantial but did not give an exact figure.
