Eleven Dominican students who attended the Monroe College based in St Lucia graduated with honors on October 19.

They joined 81 other students from around the Caribbean at a ceremony held at Gaiety on Rodney Bay in St. Lucia.

Seven Dominicans graduate Summa Cum Laude, two Magna Cum Laude and one Cum Laude.

The honors are as follows:

Summa Cum Laude

Leandra Cuffy
Pearl Dover
Rachel Frederick
Sherese Jury
Kimara Pascal
Pheona Samuel
Shama St. Hillaire

Magna Cum Laude

Nisha Bellevue

Shani Jacob

Cum Laude

Rubyanha Bedneau

Another Dominican student, Calma Louis performed exceptionally while Leandra Cuffy obtained the highest GPA in the School of Allied Health Professions.

Eight Dominican students attended the graduation ceremony.

President of the college, Stephen J Jerome during his address said members of the class of 2014 have achieved many honors and can look back on their days at Monroe with a “sense of pride and accomplishment.”

“They are well prepared to either enter upon their career or to continue towards expanded educational horizons,” he said.

Jerome encouraged graduates to assist others to earn their College degrees.

The students graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in various disciplines including Accounting, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, Information Technology and Public Health/ Health Services Administration.

Four students graduated with Master’s Degree in Business Administration and seven with Diploma in Environmental Health.

    Congrats to all the graduates.

Sad thing is so many educated people in Dominica yet so little or no job opportunities for them. The migration pattern in droves towards “greener pastures” continues with absolutely no vision from any of our political leaders to reverse this situation.

What are Dominican boys/men up to? I keep seeing all these graduating classes and there is a dearth of men in those stories.

I am a man and I will tell you, with the kind if men we are producing in Dominica, if I were a woman I would rather be a lesbian than be with these useless men we have on the island.
