Stephie Pascal, former valedictorian of the Convent High School (2007) and Dominica State College (2009) has graduated at the top of her class with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from University College London (UCL) in the United Kingdom.
UCL is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world.
Her studies there were funded by the Government of Dominica following her exceptional performance at DSC and her success at the A Level examinations in 2009.
Pascal received the Kitson Award for the highest final score in the department of Chemical Engineering and also made the Dean’s list with first class honors.
Throughout her degree, Pascal received several awards for her academic excellence including the Rooke Scholarship for most outstanding first year student, the Goldsmid Sessional Prize for best second year student and the Charles Keel Prize for most promising student starting their third year.
Pascal is currently completing a summer internship at an oil and gas company in the UK.
In October, she will start her Masters in Advanced Chemical Engineering at the University of Cambridge, which was funded by the university.
She was accepted by the prestigious Trinity College.
Pascal is very interested in energy, from conventional oil and gas through to renewables.

Stephie, I know young people with a motive, does know what they want. And to you, I say, Congrats. Your mum and dad are hard working people, who knows what comes on the plate. You did not born with a golden spoon as some of the bougeouse children. To you, hard work comes with good results. Congrats! Stephie. I am a proud grandmother who got good results from our 16 year old granddaughter at CXC. I know perseverance will see her through. Keep up the good works, and you must twitter young people to always keep their head up high, get as far as the will power takes you, and above all, you remain a TRUE DOMINICAN. One love and congrats.
Congrats. To excel at Cambridge at engineering, means that you are really a great mind.
It’s just a pity that 95% of our great minds have to stay out there after their studies. Its the big countries that get all the benefits of their success.
The government giving them jobs? Everyone crying about brain drain but all y’all crying don’t know what it feels like to come back from studying after graduating with honours and sitting at home because all responses from job applications say “no vacancies”
