Gov’t extends school term

Schools in Dominica will be closing later for the Christmas break this year to make up for time lost because of inclement weather.

Schools will now close on December 19 and not on December 14 as was previously advised, Education Minister Peter Saint Jean has said.

“Here in Dominica, we had to make tremendous preparations for the various storms that were coming our way,” he explained. “As a result of that, our schools are being used as shelters and so in the process, we would have lost out considerable time as far as the student-engaged time is concerned.”

Consequently, he said, the Ministry of Education has decided to extend the school hours to compensate for the time that was lost.

“Further, primary schools, their exams should not commence before Monday, 10 of December 2018,” Saint Jean stated. “And at the secondary level, exams should not commence before Friday, November 30th, 2018. That is to give students adequate time to prepare for these exams.”

Dominica was affected by several weather systems during the ongoing Hurricane Season.

They forget teachers had to go to work while students stayed home. Teachers are always at work. Home or at school. Those persons talking about love of students. If teachers dont love themselves enough to want better, how will they love students? Most of uou all cannot stand your own children at home. Give teachers a break!

If primary schools should not commence exams before December 10, and schools are supposed to close 9 days later, how much time does that give teachers to correct exams, put in grades online, and prepare report cards…?

Skerrit should leave that for the new government to do because no doubt, by the hook or by the crook he and his corrupt government will be out of power by December 19, 2018, which means Dominica will automatically get a break from the destructive storms the judgement of Skerrit has brought on us. As soon as righteousness is returned the curse will be lifted and we will finally experience peace and prosperity. So though the announcement is not bad, I just feel Skerrit should concentrate on calling the election so we could enjoy the peace and favor of God sooner. It is the unrighteousness of the Skerrit led DlP that has brought God’s wrath on us so as soon as he is out we will start to enjoy peace again, like we did before this evil administration took power. Imagine a Dominica without Skerrit as PM, Savrain as President, Alix Boyd Knight as house speaker, Daniel Carbon as Police Commissioner, Tony Astaphan as voice of Skerrit and without Blackmore and the evil minister called Austrie

You need help. You should try to get said help to deal with your anger towards Skerrit. At the end of the day is the population that put Skerrit in office so when we are ready we will remove him. Blessed day.

I haven’t got a problem with that but instead of Peter saying in the ministry of education that took that decision he should say is Skerrit that took that decision and annouced it since last week. So Petter either you speak the truth or shut up because you guys are not relevant. But I still have questions because he announced the date schools will be closed but says nothing about when Schools reopen after the Christmas break. Knowing Dominica these days with storms in and off season I think Schools should also reopen earlier in 2019 because trust me, we will have some more storms that will call for state of emergency and since we have very few shelters, schools will be needed as shelter. Also, with election around the corner schools will be close on polling day and the day after election, so people could finally celebrate deliverance from the slavery, corruption, bondage, bad governance of Skerrit.

        For the love of children,and not for money?Don’t repeat this foolishness sir/madam…Teachers are human being who eat,drink,take loans or mortgages,need computers,smartphones,high heels,,make their hair,need shades,push on nails,nice dress,sexy panties,,nice hair cuts,take a vacation,eat well, buy vitamins,buy nice car, nice stove,,fridge,smart tv,pay Domlec, Dowasco,save something,visit the doctor,eat good recess,to buy recess for children,pay transportation,pay Courts,pay sstaphans,go to KFC,go to Kryspy’s,buy Manilla paper,marker,water,books for prep,textbooks,school fees for their children,etc..
So they don’t want to beg …They are in it for the money too,and tell your Skerrit to pay them well.
