    I second that work with your child and be a support to them, so they can be motivated to do better in their new school. Encourage them to strive for excellence.

    i think that they should bring back the JSP it helped before and it still can too many students are going to secondary school unprepared the ministry of education needs to think about that strongly i went to JSP and then went on to secondary school it is not a offence to go to a place of help.PLEASE BRING BACK THE JSP IT WILL HELP OUR CHILDREN;

    Amen…welll said. I am a teacher at a secondary school and I must say that somehow USE has lowered the quality of students that we get coming into the first forms.

    Students come into first form barely able to write far less to perform simple math and construct proper sentences. Imagine a child getting 1/100 on an integrated science exam!!!!

    Parents, students and the primary school teachers have become complacent because the student MUST go to high school so… we are failing our students. Maybe USE must be reviewed and see if Dominica is REALLY ready for that.

    Dream Lover, you sound like sore looser. When I wrote common entrance almost 20 years ago, I got a pass and my parents never made me feel less or more than those who got a scholarships or those who failed. Yes I went on to do better than some who got scholarships and bursaries, but there were students who excelled at common entrance and continue to excel through out.
    We cannot make our kids feel that mediocrity is the best. Let the kids who did well celebrate!! This is their moment. Tell your son or daughter that what ever he or she gets is ok for now because it is too late to kill a child who did not do well for one reason or the other.
    Many parents do not dedicate enough time to their children to help them get good grades and they expect miracles when the results are out. On the other hand you must also remember that not all kids have the same potential. You may beat your child night and day to get 100% and that child may never pass. Another parent may never help a child and that child will get 100%. It all depends on the child's potential.
    So, it is really really unfair if a child does extremely well to be upset at that child or to instigate jealousy among kids. Instead you should make your child feel special no matter what, especially if that child worked really hard even to get a pass. God has a plan for every one of us including the scholarships, bursaries, pass and fail. Let us recognize that and not turn our kids into haters at such a young age. Instead let them know that they will reap what they sow and that no two people are the same.
    To the kids who got scholarships I say well done!!! To their teachers and parents I say well done!! To those who tried their best and got passes I say well done!!! To those ho did not pass for what ever reason..I say try harder beginning now!!
    To the parents who are upset at their kids grades, stop blaming ministry and teachers and help your kids

    to dream lover.. of course the students get what they desreve. they receive grades for each subject. that is A B C or D for the subjects. however there is a criteria to get a scholarship or a bursarie. that does not deny the child from receiving his or her grade. you would probably want to rephrase by saying that the criteria should be lowered so that more pupils receive scholarships and bursaries. and stil i would not favour this because since the introduction of universal education ,parents , students and even teachers have lost focus becuz everybody must go to high school.
