Library and Information Service presents “Adventures in Writing”

The Archives Unit of the Library and Information Service of Dominica is pleased to present to the general public of Dominica from Monday, October 3 – Saturday October 8, 2010 an exhibition featuring various newsletters and magazines from private sector organizations and government departments.

This exhibition, “Adventures in Writing”, is aimed at highlighting one aspect of the Archives’ collection.  The exhibition will present the publications in their original form, and will include a selection of poems and short stories extracted from some of the publications.

The theme serves to focus attention on the different styles of writing, and the variety of topics covered – politics, strikes, business, agriculture, education, forestry, kwéyòl, to name a few.

The exhibition, which is the second presented by the Archives, also aims at sensitizing the public to the role of the Archives in preserving and making available the documentary heritage of Dominica so that generations to come will have access to the historical records of the country.

We welcome the general public and encourage them to visit the exhibition at the Archives, located on the top floor of the Documentation Centre Building, on Kennedy Avenue, opposite the Financial Centre.

That should be very interesting. As many people as possible should attend to witness our literary history. Great country, great people.

I can guess that the schools will bring out the children as a field education trip.

you would be amazed at how some schools would never look at these things as an opportunity for their students to be more knowledgeable about our past history. The teachers and principals need to support such things more
