Forty-three (43) students and eighteen (18) teachers from fourteen (14) primary schools in the Roseau and Valley Districts recently participated in two (2) workshops organized by the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit.
A session was held at the UWI School of Continuing Studies on Tuesday for the Trafalgar, Morne Prosper, Wotten Waven, Giraudel and Newtown Primary Schools, while on Thursday the other workshop at the Public Service Training Centre saw the attendance of the Goodwill, Berean Academy, St. Mary’s Primary, Convent Preparatory, Christian Union, Laudat and Roseau Seventh-Day Adventist Primary Schools.
Topics covered included Refusal Skills, Self Esteem, Values, and Categories of Drugs. A video on Truth About Drugs was shown. Sessions were facilitated by the staff of the National Drug Abuse Prevention Unit.
Students and teachers both expressed thanks at the wealth of information they received and hoped to share with their friends and family members.
