The Marigot Development Corporation (MDC) with its Education Consultant partner Versan Educational Services of Jamaica, has secured scholarships valued at $2.2-million for Dominican students to study in the United States, under its two-year old ‘Study in the US program’.

The program targets students under 17, who are eligible for entrance at a US Private Boarding School.

Students are facilitated in preparing for the entrance exam (the SSATs), selecting schools, applying to the schools and obtaining financial aid.

Michael Pascal, chairman of MDC, said the organization is very pleased with that level of success so early in their programme.

He attributes a great part of that accomplishment to the young students who successfully obtained high scores at the SSAT.

The scholarship awards ranged from 50 percent to 99 percent of the total cost of Tuition & Board at these Private Boarding Schools.

Pascal is confident that if the students continue to excel at the boarding schools, they will be able to gain scholarships to continue their education at some of the top ranked colleges and universities in North America.

The students came from the Dominica State College, Convent High School, North East Comprehensive and Portsmouth Secondary School.

Of the ten students in the program, nine received offers of Scholarship.

Preparation of the next batch of students for the Private Boarding School program begins in September 2013 and MDC/Versan expects to see a doubling of the financing it can secure for students in 2014.

And to see there is a Government in office for 13 years that could not achieve such success like the MDC, what is Petter St. Jean and all his technocrats in the education ministry getting paid for, What Mr Pascal is doing is free service to Dominica, guess this is a sign of things to come with a Prime Minister from the North, Caressa will say WE GO SEE not too long from now, Great Job Pascal

Hon Prevost while I share in your congratulatory remarks, I just want to point out one little observation for I know if it was a Labour Party man that was behind that move and his child was a beneficiary you and many would cry out the C word.

On another note this is a brilliant way of launching Mr. Pascal into the limelight of public life.

      Wow!!!!

@ Prepre..everything do not have to be Political for crying out loud.. Stop the madness and go get. Life.. Shocks man..

      • .......
        August 19, 2013

Please? He is supposed to get scholarships for others and if his child qualifies don’t secure one for her? If it was Labour Prevost wouldn’t say jack against it, he is all for education. One of these days you political prostitutes must take a real time out and ask Skerrit what is his direct relationship to Prevost and his kids. Just stay by road and jump in everything beyond you all for fly on the wall politics.

        August 19, 2013

If the labor party person child was able to put in the hard work n score the second highest grade on the SSAT internationally… Then I would see no need to complain…y’all seriously need to stop making everything so political….hard work still pays off even though the government may lead u to think otherwise…. The program is also open to all children all parties all race….no politics here pay ur money n come!!!!!

And what is so wrong in Mr Pascal proving to the Dominican public his worth? its men of action we need in Dominica not men who around election time can only talk about millions in treasury while the country plunge into poverty. Those who are in public life governong the country will need to look at their report cards for the past 13 years unlike Mr Pascal who has proven himself many times over them
