Roseau, Dominica – March 19, 2018…The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Center (CDEMA) on Monday launched the Model Safe Schools Programme (MSSP) to offer tools for assessing the level of safety of schools.
The model safe school programme is a suite of guidance tools through which comprehensive disaster management may be integrated into Dominican schools.
The programme is designed to assist states in the region with implementation of processes that result in safer, greener educational facilities. It comprises a policy that can be adopted by governments, tools for assessing the level of safety and greenness of schools, a template emergency plan that can be adapted to a school specific situation and hazard context and a list of tools that can be utilized to create safer and greener institutions.
In January 2018 the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) began disbursement of grant funding of EUR 746,000 to the CDEMA Coordinating Unit (CDEMA- CU) to implement the MSSP toolkit in Dominica and four other countries: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Funding is being provided under the African Caribbean Pacific-European Union-Caribbean Development Bank Natural Disaster Risk Management (ACP-EU-CDB NDRM) in CARIFORUM Countries Programme.
The implementation of the Model Safe Schools Programme in the Caribbean will, among other things, enhance the capacity of participating states to incorporate and mainstream comprehensive risk and disaster management considerations in education sector policies, planning and operations.
The planned duration of the project is 24 months.

I challenge Petter to define the term, in a academic and scientific way so that “academics as myself can understand!”
He can’t. If that is something which has to do with our educational system, it should come through the parliament, and not just get up Tuesday morning talking fart!
All of that is baloney talk; just because they heard about students shooting, and murdering students in school in America, and the topic now in America is about making schools in the United States safe, that boy Petter talking rubbish about model safe school program.
What does prepare for a disaster such as a hurricane have to do with this crap they are talking about?
What is a ” Model Safe School?” We know there are secondary school students attending classes inebriated, that should be what the concern should be about. Jumping on a bandwagon just because you hear something is happening in another country is not reason to start talking nonsense, creating hype!
So, ours is going to be the first climate resilient country on the planet, so too we are the inventors of the first “model safe school on the planet.”
They spew any nonsense that will detour the mind of the suffering poor in the country, from their hunger, poverty, and backwardness in which the people exists!

After Maria The ministry of education should ensure that every subject taught should be about Maria. In other words , a new English / Gramma , new science, new maths, new everything because ofthe devastation of Maria. The Ministry of Finance should ensure they insert the words, because of Maria on every cheque written; the ministry of Health should make sure every paracetamol issued has “because of Maria” in other words, every single one of the 18 ministries should find a way to insert Maria in it because without Maria there would be nothing to talk about and as result nothing to blame for an incompetent government. In closing, every government Minister should have a plaque in their office that reads in bold letter THAK GOD FOR MARIA! IT’S NOT OUR FAULT JUST BLAME IT ALL ON MARIA.
