National Youth Council Independence Message

nycThe National Youth Council of Dominica would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone, and in particular the youth of Dominica a peaceful and prosperous Independence. We recognize that as young people we have an enormous responsibility towards nation building; and as we focus on this year’s Independence Theme “Strengthening our Commitment to Nation Building”, it urges us youth, to continue to make a meaningful contribution to the development of Dominica.

Let us take that responsibility with seriousness, pride and joy; as young people it is often called upon us to lay the foundation on which a nation can be built. Recognizing the need for soundness of mind, good character, integrity, resourcefulness and skills.  Do not feel isolated or without support, for this beautiful nation possesses the treasures and relevant resources from which to begin. Our forefathers made it possible for us to not just survive but to “thrive”. That is why it is important to value education as it is the single most effective tool you possess to transform yourself and your society of which you belong.  It also allows for the perpetuation of our beautiful culture from one generation to the next.

As leaders we will continue to do our best to alleviate your challenges; but we cannot do so without your involvement and interest. May you therefore recognize your role in society and your importance to us All. God Bless You and May God Bless this Beautiful Nation. “Youth Representing Youth Positively”
