National Youth Council hosts HIV/AIDS drive-through

The National Youth Council of Dominica in collaboration with the National HIV/AIDS Response Unit, The Dominica Planned Parenthood, The Big Brothers of Scotts head and Soufriere, and the Grand Bay Youth Center Club will be engaging in an HIV/AIDS drive-through on Saturday 26th February, 2011.

This activity is expected to continue to raise the awareness of the general public, especially the youths and others who are most at risk, about the disease of HIV/AIDS, its methods of transmission, preventative measures, risk factors and testing.

The drive is scheduled for Saturday 26th February, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. and will commence in the village of Scotts Head, and continue through Soufriere,  Bellevue, Pichelin, Maranatha Square, Grand Bay, Tete Morne, Dubique, Stowe, Bagatelle, Fond St.Jean and Petite Savanne) and is expected to climax at Delices.

We are seeking the assistance of the general public on this venture as we continue to educate and assist the nation’s youth, so that they will be better equipped to take decisions to improve their lives.

Let us all work together for the development of the youth of south.

I really think that this is a commendable effort by the National Youth Council. As a youth i am very passionate about anything that fosters the education on the topic of HIV/AIDS. We live in a world where the man next door, the baby in the cradle or even our very own dad’s and mom’s could have it( the very ppl we trust and love) . Reality is that there’s no face with AIDS so please let’s not discriminate, just educate and practise safe sex. I strongly concur with “negre marwon” that the danger of the disease is still real and that WE MUST be vigilant towards controlling and ending this dreadful disease.

MY FELLOW YOUTHS LET’S JOIN THE FIGHT.

Definitely worth the effort in those areas. Maybe other communities in Dominica need it too, but I am from Grand Bay and I know for a fact that there exists young men, some of them looking quite normal who are deliberately spreading AIDS to innocent or should I say, stupid (in some cases) young girls. Those young girls go on denying the fact, and it is spreading like wildfire in the community. If one has it, I am afraid several others do. Lets hope they get tested, and get the care they need.

A good collaborative effort by the various groups. There seems to be a lack of interest
in IV/AIDS issue in Dominica. The danger of the disease is still real.We should be
vigilant towards controlling and ending this dreadful disease
