New educational training and qualification programs will soon be offered at the school levels to help students acquire various skills.
Education Minister Petter St. Jean made the announcement at the graduation ceremony of 38 students of the Goodwill Secondary School this morning.
He said the initiative will first be introduced at selective secondary schools.
“We will offer students new opportunities to acquire skills and develop the kind of attitudes that will make them immediately ready for the workplace. Some of you will further your education, others will get in the line of work. We will equip you with skills you can use to become self sufficient,” he said.
Meantime Educator Lucina Lafond Charles in her feature address told students that they should know what direction they should take to succeed.
Good info about education in Dominica
Congratulations to all the students who graduated from the Goodwill Secondary School today. I know that you all can THINK for yourself and will be respectable persons in society. Congratulations to the Validictorian Ms Kerdell Y. Benjamin from Portsmouth who captured most of the Subject Prizes. DNO where are the pictures from the graduation? We are waiting.
I hope your assumption is right! Possie Masive!
If my memory serves me right Goodwill school was one of the trade school if not the only one in Dominica. This school was equipped with skilled trades men like Mr. Alleyne who fought woodwork , auto mechanics, electricals, home economics. Did his statement spoke about revitalizing it or is this just another program that the govt killed!,,,,,
I hope all you teach them ethics and morality I hope all you teach them their rights and responsibilities as citizens, I hope all you teach them about pride and self sufficiency. Teach them about transparency and accountability in public office, teach them how to THINK for themselves.. But hey how are people without the moral authority to do so have can do so!! What a shame.
