The Paix Bouche Primary School has won the Primary Schools Kwéyòl Spelling Bee Competition for the fifth time.

Winner, Solika Dupigny, with 62 points, bested nine contestants, for the title.

“I feel very proud to be winning for my school,” she said.

Dupigny stated her belief that Creole should be celebrated and taught on-island.

“I think that Creole is a very nice language,” she noted. “It is important to our country, Dominica, and other countries would like to learn the language, so I would like for everyone to learn it so it will keep among everybody in Dominica.”

The winner thanked her parents and teachers for their support.

She was awarded a tablet, compliments of Digicel, and a plaque while her school received two plaques—one of which was sponsored by Sign Man.

Edicia Sanford, of the Salibya Primary School, was named first runner-up, with a total of sixty (60) points, and Wyatt Wallace, of the Bense Primary School, came third, with fifty-six (56) points.
