On September 25, 2010, RBC Royal Bank of Canada is sponsoring fund-raising walk/runs across the Caribbean to benefit the RBC/RBTT Children’s Cancer Fund.
In Dominica, the walk/run will start at 5:30 a.m. from the RBC Royal Bank of Canada branch on the Dame Eugenia Boulevard. RBC invites community members to join RBC employees in the event to raise funds for this important cause.
“Paediatric cancer is a terrible disease, and families often need financial support when their children are being treated,” said Roxanne Solomon, Vice President Eastern Caribbean and Country Head St. Lucia. “Through these fundraising events across the Caribbean, our goal is to raise at least USD $25,000 from this collaborative effort.”
Though only two years old, the Children’s Cancer Fund has already assisted children in four countries, including Dominica. It has also provided support for foreign testing of biopsy samples, which results in quicker diagnosis and earlier treatment of cancer when identified.
“The fund has made a major difference in the lives of the families helped,” said Solomon. “We look forward to the participation of many clients, employees and community members in order to raise funds and awareness for this important cause.”
The cost to walk or run in the event is $25 per person, or $10 for children age 13 and under. The registration fee includes a T-shirt. To register, simply complete a registration form available at the RBC Royal Bank of Canada branch. Donations are also gratefully accepted.
