Rotaract Club presents basket to needy parishioner

Father Cuffy (fifth from right) receives hamper from Rotaract Club members.

A leading service club in Dominica, the Rotaract Club of Roseau, on Sunday, September 19 presented a large hamper to a needy St. Alphonsus parishioner as part of the club’s 25th anniversary celebrations.

“We are happy that you have chosen to include God as part of your anniversary activities,” said visiting parish priest Fr. Franklyn Cuffy.

Dozens of Rotaractors and prospective members made it for the service in Pottersville on Sunday morning.

“You are a group of very young people to be celebrating 25 years,” he joked.

The hamper was presented to Fr. Cuffy and he in turn presented it to a needy parishioner. Vice president of the Rotaract Club of Roseau Miriam St. Luce in addressing the congregation asked for blessings on the club.

She also asked the church to “pray for members.” Following mass members of the club visited the sick at the Princess Magaret Hospital and then over to console a fellow member in a time of grief.

Later that evening the club visited a boxing match at the Sports Center in Canefield.
