Roving Caregivers’ Programme to stage event at St. Joseph Gov’t School

The Roving Caregivers’ Programme (RCP) will stage a mini showcase at the St Joseph Government School grounds on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3 pm to expose as many persons as possible from St. Joseph and its environs to the advantages to families and their children, birth to three years old, of actively participating in the RCP – an Early Childhood Education Programme.

Early Childhood Development Programmes like the Roving Caregivers Programme provide a range of emotional, informational and educational support to families with infants and preschool-age children.

The Roving Caregivers’ Programme (RCP) is an informal Early Childhood Education Programme that seeks to reach children birth to three years of age, who do not have access to any formal early childhood education. Early stimulation for children and parenting education for parents form the core of the programme.

This RCP thrust into new communities has been made possible through the kind generosity of the National Bank of Dominica (NBD) Ltd. In 2010, the National Bank of Dominica approved a proposal submitted on behalf of the Roving Caregivers’ Programme for the expansion of the programme into ten new communities on island. Approval of over $323,000 by NBD will enable Grand Fond, Marigot and St. Joseph to be the first communities to benefit from this phase of the RCP initiative.

The Roving Caregivers’ Programme and the RCP St. Joseph expansion committee invite all persons to come to the grounds of the St Joseph Government School   on Sunday, May 15, 2011 to learn more about the RCP and how the programme can benefit not only families and their children, birth to three, but also youth and the entire community.
