This summer, Dominican Cub Scouts had the opportunity of a lifetime to attend the 14th Annual Caribbean Cuboree, made possible, in part, by a donation from Sagicor Life Inc.
The event, hosted in Guyana, brought together more than 800 young cubs between the ages of 7 to 11, from fourteen Caribbean countries.
Brenton Hilaire, Agency Manager of Sagicor Life Inc, praised the work of the Dominica National Scout Organisation.
“We are proud to assist the National Scout Organisation as it works to provide productive outlets for the young people of Dominica,” he said. “Sagicor Life Inc has maintained a tradition of supporting youth development and working closely with the communities in which we operate.”
Dr. Mallet Marie, Commissioner of the Scout Association of Dominica, commented, “As a scout who has experienced a World Jamboree, I would like to see as many members given the chance to experience these types of regional and international scouting events. I am very happy to assist with providing the youth of Dominica with this opportunity for exposure to different cultures and experiences. It is these experiences that help to mold and prepare them for the future. I am grateful for the kind gesture of Sagicor Life Inc. As an active scout of more than thirty years, I can truly say scouting is a positive way of life and the skills gained are immeasurable.”
