Go ahead and keep deleting peoples comment. My question was why is Spanish being referred to as a Second Language. Our Language is more of a French Dialect.

It is good to learn other Languages, but I thought “French” was closer to our roots. Why is “Spanish” being thought as a “Second” Language? as per the article.

I think the students in Dominica should be given a wider option of foreign languages to learn. The students should learn Spanish because Dominica and Spanish speaking economies interact. But the Spanish speaking economies are not doing so well as other economies in the world. The schools officials should study what countries around the world have for a certain length of time have had strong progress stable economies, and offer the students in Dominica the option to learn those languages so future Dominica’s diplomats can be more effective in carrying out Dominica’s mission, just like other foreign countries learn English to reach out to us. Another option for the educators is to offer the students to learn the six official languages of the United Nations.
