Keynote speaker, for the event was St. Lucian professor, Dr. Tesa Leonce, herself a graduate of the Caribbean program at Midwestern State. Dr. Leonce, who began the program in 2002, reminded the students that she was once one of them, and that they should set their sights on higher goals.
Over 250 Dominican students have earned degrees from Midwestern since 1995 and seventy-two students are currently enrolled. Fifteen new students from Dominica will be accepted to Midwestern State University in August 2016, and will be part of the over 1200 from the Caribbean who have been recruited in the twenty- three year history of the program.

The inaccuracy of this article is beyond disappointing! There were way more than12 Dominicans. Please re-publish
Please if you all can find work in the US, my advice to you all is stay and work, dominica at this point in time don’t have any future right now. my child is home for over a year cannot find a work so he can pay back his loan.
Congrats graduates! Welcome to CSO / MSU alumni. We’re proud of you all.
Congratulations are in order for these twelve Dominicans. The million dollar question is, how many of them will return to Dominica to contribute to our growth? Are they going to be in the NEP program?
“Over 250 Dominican students have earned degrees from Midwestern since 1995 ”
DNO I thank you for this piece of information. I guess next time it would be good to tell us how many of the over 250 students that graduated with Degree are employed in Dominica, especially since 2004, when Skeriit was made PM
Congrats to you all
Congratulations to all of you, may you continue to succeed in your careers.
MBA Masara Detouche, BSc Samara Stedman, and BBA Recardo Christopher, Erine Fontaine, Everlina John Phillip are.missing… Congrats to all those who graduated.. #braindrain #nottheirfault #nojobs
Well done to all of you. I hope we have gainful employment for you back home but regardless where you go, you did Dominica proud.
Recardo Christopher also graduated with Magna Cum Laude Honor. He has made Dominica very proud by being one of only 6 students at MSU and the first Dominican to ever receive an honoree award for being in the top 10% in USA of a Major Field Test covering all the disciplines of Business. I was priviledged to witness this while in Wichita Falls. He needs to be recognized by Dominica.
Excellent job by all. Best of luck in the next phase of life….Full time work
***Corrected Comment***
While I applaud all 12 students whose names are mentioned, I am disappointed that being one who was present at the graduation ceremony of the MidWestern State University and felt very proud witnessing the Dominican graduates, noticed that, if not mistaken, there are four students some of whom graduated with magna cum laude honors whose names are not mentioned. Namely:
1. Samara Stedman (Bsc in Biology, Magna Cum Laude)
2. Erine Fontaine (BBA in Accounting, Magna Cum Laude)
3. Recardo Christopher (BBA in Accounting with a minor in Entrepreneurship, Magna Cum Laude, Major Field Test Top 10% in the nation honoree award) First Dominica student to do so
4. Everlina Jonn Phillip (BBA in Accounting)
It appears that the names mentioned in the article are of students who attended a second graduation
ceremony held by Caribbean Students Organisation at Mid Western State University following the main commencement ceremony.
Congratulation Samara Stedman La Plaine Girls Rock
They were business to say at LaPlaine Primary School Graduation you get scholarship but I hope they are busy now to make a public congratulations speech.
